Eff ective static control for improved production quality
By Simco-ION C
ontamination and static charges are two of the most common causes of defects in high-speed manufacturing environments. Whether it is converting, packaging, printing, or plastics production, these challenges can lead to lost time, increased waste and customer dissatisfaction.
WHY STATIC AND CONTAMINANTS MATTER When materials separate or pass over rollers, static charges are generated. These charges attract dust and airborne particles to the surface of the material. Left untreated, static can cause misfeeds, clinging, operator shocks, or even damage to materials or machine components. As machinery becomes more advanced, sensitive parts such as sensors can malfunction due to static interference. In environments with fl ammable materials, the risks increase.
Surface contamination is just as critical. Particles and debris can interfere with downstream processes like printing, coating and laminating. In industries with strict quality standards, even small amounts of contamination can result in product rejection.
HOW SIMCO-ION HELPS
Simco-ION delivers advanced static control solutions designed to keep production lines clean,
stable and effi cient. For surface cleaning, we off er non-contact options such as air knives, which eff ectively remove loose particles from sensitive substrates without risk of damage. Our static elimination equipment, including bars, blowers and nozzles, can be integrated into these setups to neutralize static charges during the cleaning process.
At the core of our system is the Manager IQ Easy platform and the Static Control Manager (SLC). This platform allows centralized control and monitoring of all connected devices, with full integration into your existing HMI. Operators gain real-time visibility and control over process parameters, while built-in datalogging supports quality assurance and traceability. With Closed-Loop Feedback (CLFB), the system automatically adjusts ionisation output
based on measured charge levels and line speed, ensuring consistent and optimised performance. Simco-ION also off ers ATEX-certifi ed solutions for hazardous environments. Our ATEX-rated sensor bar is a unique product that enables safe and accurate charge measurement directly within explosive zones, where traditional sensors cannot operate.
THE RESULT
By implementing the right static control strategy, manufacturers can reduce contamination, minimise waste and prevent costly downtime. Clean, static-free materials move more reliably through production, protecting equipment and ensuring consistent product quality. Simco-ION partners with manufacturers to assess their specifi c needs and deliver tailored, high-performance solutions backed by decades of industry expertise. To learn more, visit
