Xeikon Café announces North American edition

Citing the enormous growth and success of the latest European Xeikon Café editions, Xeikon has now announced its first Xeikon Café North America. The event, sponsored by the company and its partners, will provide a platform for learning, knowledge exchange and networking. Xeikon Café North America activities will take place at two venues: the

Westin Chicago Northwest hotel and Xeikon’s newly-renovated demonstration facility nearby. It begins with a luncheon on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 and adjourns on Wednesday, October 18. “Owners of successful printing and converting shops know how critical it is to keep up with developments in the industry, but they don’t want to spend too much time away from their businesses,” said David Wilkins, vice president, marketing and sales, Xeikon America. “So we are carefully formulating an agenda that provides the greatest possible amount of value in the shortest amount of time.” The general session will feature a noted economist who will talk about trends in the market, and how printers and converters can adapt their businesses to capitalise on the emerging business opportunities. A well-known industry guru will moderate a blue-ribbon panel of brand owners, designers and corporate marketing executives – all of whom have specific needs that directly influence their selection of printers and converters. A healthy future for packaging design

Elizabeth Parker, from Solihull College University Centre, was awarded gold for her solution to the Student Starpack Awards 2017 ‘Health in a Hurry’ brief, which was sponsored by folding carton manufacturer, Graphic Packaging International (GPI). Entrants were required to create a solution, using cartonboard as the

primary packaging material, to deliver fresh meals, snacks and drinks to health- conscious consumers’ homes and workplaces in 90 minutes or less. Parker wowed the judges with her ‘Bloom Box’ idea, securing the top prize. Rakhee Karia, European marketing manager at GPI, said “This brief brought together three real-world challenges that packaging manufacturers must address in today’s market: convenience, shelf appeal and functionality. Combining these elements effectively is a dificult balance and we’re impressed with Elizabeth’s solution.”
