Reel & Roll Handling

Pleats, presses and cuts from a roll A

ZCO Corp. has designed and manufactured a custom cut to length system with a material flow

package, pleating station, and heat set station. The application required unwinding gauze from a roll, folding it into pleats, pressing it, and then cutting it to length. A motorised unwind feeds the material

to drive rollers which advance the material into the pleating station. Stainless steel funnel guides take the gauze and fold it into pleats. Exit guides lead the material into the heat set station where heated idle rollers press the pleats into place. A laminar air flow of ionised air floats the product through the knife assembly, preventing static charge. The pleated, pressed material is then cut to length. An

plate and clear anodised frame align the stations and support the unit. The system requires 110/230 VAC and compressed air. AZCO Corp. designs and manufactures modules and units used to feed, cut and place products. Their concept is based on a building block model. Standard modules and units can be purchased alone or in combination to build a solution that meets your unique needs. Standard units are in stock and can be customised to fit specific requirements. AZCO Corp. is an ISO 9001:2015

certified company with over 35 years of experience developing solutions for a wide range of feeding and cutting applications. Made in the US.

his Vertical Spindle attachment was designed for the lifting and rotation of heavy rolls with a large core diameter (6 inches / 152mm) in a pharmaceutical high care environment. The roll handling equipment is equipped with geared rotation and a roll pushing or ejector facility, so ensuring limited operator effort. The attachment has a gearbox with manual handwheel for the rotation of the rolls to and from the vertical to horizontal orientations and a further handwheel provides the roll gripping and release actions. The rolls are securely gripped by the core. This mechanism has a torque limiter fitted so that the clamping fingers do not over or under tighten.

A third handwheel is used to push the

rolls from the attachment and transfer them smoothly onto the shaft of the packaging machine. These features combine to make quick, easy and simple transfers with minimal operator effort which means that the rolls can be handled surely and safely with minimum effort and complete confidence. The attachment has been designed to

provide a high load capacity (225kg / 496lbs) with great strength and durability as well as enhanced wear resistance. This attachment is also available with a powered roll rotation. This roll handling solution is easy to use and provides a

simple and safe action. It is entirely suitable for the pharmaceutical and food industries and similar hygienic applications. Suitable for rolls of film, foil, paper and

various packaging materials, this attachment is backed up by a full bespoke design service so ensuring that the right solution can be made to suit most requirements. All Packline attachments are fully

interchangeable and can be easily fitted or removed from any model of ‘Compac’ lifting machine that is fitted with the quick release system.
