Croxsons extends glass expertise into home & beauty sector

To complement its existing core business in supplying glass bottle containers, closures and decoration to international food and beverage brands, leading glass packaging firm, Croxsons, has recently launched a home & beauty division. The move builds on sustained business growth and will see Croxsons provide single-source packaging solutions for brands in this sector, including candles, reed diffusers, perfumes, cosmetics and personal care.

The Surrey-based business has been supplying a broad base of clients ranging from the smallest start-ups, to the largest multi-national, with unique glass packaging and closure solutions for nearly 150 years. A Queen’s Award for Enterprise winner, Croxsons’ ongoing relevance is founded on the value the company places on nurturing business relationships and the breadth and completeness of their offering – a ‘family of packaging’ defined by providing single-source, multi-choice glass packaging and closure expertise.

Commenting on the new venture, Croxsons chairman, James Croxson said: “The launch of our home & beauty division has been on the cards for some time now. Given our glass packaging expertise, global connections and ability to provide stand-out primary packaging solutions, we firmly believe that we are well placed to provide brands in this sector with an unrivalled and engaging customer journey.” To oversee the initiative, the company has recruited Amanda Pritchard as a national sales manager. A trained packaging technologist, Ms Pritchard brings more than 15 years of beauty packaging experience to the role.

Compostable packaging producer, Tipa has announced its expansion into the Italian market with an expert new hire. Italy’s compostable materials market has boomed in recent years, as consumers continue to look for sustainable alternatives to conventional plastic. Assobioplastiche found the amount of compostable packaging produced in Italy grew by more than 150% in just seven years, rising from 39,250 tons in 2012 to 101,000 tons in 2019; and demand continues.

Tipa’s available packaging solutions offer high-performance compostable films and laminates that perform like conventional plastic but can be disposed of using Italy’s existing composting infrastructure and decompose back into the soil like organic waste. Italy boasts more than 85 companies active in converting, with exports accounting for almost half of production. Tipa’s packaging is a ‘plug and play’ solution adapted for industry machinery and manufacturing practices and offers a solution that is fitted to existing packaging supply chains.

Mondi open first paper bags plant in Colombia

Mondi opens its new state-of-the-art paper bags plant in Cartagena, Colombia in January 2021. It is the manufacturer’s first operation in South America, and will enable it to improve and grow its services to better serve customers in the region. South America is home to more than 250 cement plants, requiring up to two billion cement bags per year. Cartagena is a strong location for the new plant, set up in a free- trade zone, with good access to ports in Panama, the east coast of the United States, the Gulf of Mexico and other Caribbean ports. The plant will start with one production line with a capacity of approximately 50million bags per year.
