Summer vending inspiration European Vending & Coffee Service

heading to far-flung places, having a staycation, relaxing and/or perhaps discovering new vending concepts while on holiday. As you know, new vending solutions have really taken hold across Europe. We can think of smart fridges and micromarkets most obviously, but also others such as food lockers and direct farm vending machines.
A In the case of the later, we are seeing more and more of
these machines right across the continent, where consumers can purchase local and fresh products direct from the producer. This is a great advertisement of the possibilities in vending. Farm vending machines not only enable a potential new source of income for farmers and provide consumers with additional options for super-local produce, but furthermore provide a convenient and 24/7 retail experience which perhaps didn’t exist before in rural areas. While these types of vending machines have been long established in certain places – in Belgium for example bread vending machines are commonly found outside bakeries, and potato vending machines at farms - during a recent visit to Northern Ireland an apparent growth in farm vending machines was clearly visible. One example as shown below was of a milk vending machine, placed outside a popular coffee place on the coast, which enabled the neighbouring young farmer to sell his milk at a 5-fold increase compared to the usual market price. Not only did the vending machine provide an additional revenue stream, but the positive marketing and the messaging of ‘buy local’ and ‘buy quality’ is exactly the type of practices policy makers are trying to encourage. Vending is indeed innovative, open to all and modern, and we sometimes need to remind ourselves and others that our business is diverse, accessible and should be considered as an example of sustainable best-practice. So if you get away this summer, keep an eye out for new, unusual or attractive vending concepts. Perhaps you’ll come back with some business inspiration as well as a good tan and some local products!
