FMVEND SUPPLEMENT CONTENTS

January/February 2019

There is a co-dependency between the vending industry and the FM sector, so it stands to reason that facilities managers can benefit from any helpful hints about what’s new and innovative in vending. Here VI touches on a few of those in our FM Vend Guide. Much attention has been focused on Brexit in recent months and businesses up and down the country are poised for all outcomes. In addition, those in the FM field are facing shifting customer expectations and an explosion of new technologies which threaten to disrupt traditional models. According to the latest Facilities Management Business Confidence Monitor, confidence levels have dropped, however more than half of its surveyed respondents are still positive about the current FM business environment. In vending, the healthy eating trend has continued to gain momentum

throughout the past 12 months, driven by alarming statistics on obesity and the government’s intervention with the introduction of a soft drinks levy aptly nicknamed ‘the sugar tax’. Vending suppliers have introduced an array of healthy snacks, sugar free

drinks and vegan friendly or free from varieties in vending sized packages. They contend that healthier, more natural options are increasingly being selected by more discerning consumers. The last year has also seen a number of innovations in the machines on the

market with non-food vending opportunities growing. In particular experts see high potential in the OCS market which has seen some significant developments in the last year. This growth is being driven by changing working environments where working hours are often flexible and by employers who are increasingly open to the idea of installing the latest OCS solution in their offices. An investment in the latest vending machine will of course be welcomed

by your customers, guests or office workers and the options out there are plentiful. The FM Business Confidence Monitor 2018 points to a certain degree of

apprehension about the future of the overall economy in part due to Britain’s impending departure from the European Union. However, this makes it all the more important for facilities managers to

make informed and calculated decisions about their facilities’ expenditure. A good relationship with a vending partner who can help you make the best decision for your business will go a long way to paving the way to a good future.
