Coffetek sales director Ian Johnston talks complete beverage systems, reusable cups and ‘connecting’ the consumer in VI’s monthly Q&A with last year’s Vendies winners.
GIVE US A BRIEF HISTORY ON COFFETEK? Coffetek was founded in 1992 by two entrepreneurs: Paul Pavey and Drew Clayton. During the 1990s Coffetek was hugely successful designing and manufacturing a range of table top dispense systems – distributing them worldwide. During 2003, Coffetek started to produce a range of free-standing hot beverage machines. During 2007 Coffetek became part of the Azkoyen Group, a multinational group of technological companies, specialising in vending, payment technologies and security systems. With their combined expertise and resources Coffetek offers the
most comprehensive refreshment solutions with distribution throughout Europe, America and Australasia.
WHAT DOES COFFETEK DO TO STAND OUT FROM ITS
COMPETITION? Coffetek has achieved an enviable reputation for the design and manufacture of beverage dispense systems with over 30 years of experience in product development and innovation. It’s hot, cold and snack machines are known for their simplicity, reliability and technology. Coffetek is also known for pursuing constant improvement in its services to its customers.
WHAT ARE THE NOTABLE CONSUMER TRENDS AFFECTING
VENDING AND HOW IS COFFETEK CAPITALIZING ON THESE? Plastic and paper cups have been the 2018 topic. At Coffetek we offer different own cup solutions in our machine range. On our free- standing machine, we are even able to offer a discount when you use your own cup. With the trend moving to larger reusable cups we have now developed a plinth for our popular Vitro range, allowing most re-usable cups to be used.
WHERE VENDING IS CONCERNED, WHAT IS COFFETEK’S
FUTURE? Our position as UK market leader and our focus on coffee and beverage solutions puts us in a strong position to continue to innovate and deliver better. We will continue to develop excellence in espresso technology,
milk systems and complete beverage solutions. Technology and ‘connecting’ the consumer play an important part in our future success.

The solution has been well received in the vending industry as this
