AMDEA: Inclusive Support A

MDEA has recently added retail giant Combined Independent

Holdings Ltd (CIH) t/a Euronics UK to its membership, bringing Euronics’ own appliance ranges, Sensis and Schönhaus, into the membership community and further strengthening the relationship between AMDEA and key retailers. Other retailer brands within AMDEA membership include Howdens Joinery Ltd. The move broadens AMDEA’s representation across retail channels, ensuring policy, compliance and trade and consumer initiatives reflect the realities of independent retailers as well as its manufacturers. Such retailers and distributors who have their

own appliance brands are already welcome to join the association as full AMDEA members. The association has recently experienced a surge in membership interest from key retailers, and now work is afoot to broaden the membership offer to include an inclusive array of players from the wider appliance industry value chain. At the recent AMDEA Parliamentary

Reception held in the House of Commons on the theme ‘Appliances bringing home the circular economy’, AMDEA CEO Stefan Hay outlined the organisation’s ambitions to include a wider range of appliance value chain companies under the AMDEA umbrella. This strategic ambition has been set as the industry’s drive towards greater sustainability and to support the circular economy continues to gain pace. AMDEA is aiming to introduce a new

Associate Member Group (AMG), to bring in more companies working across the appliance value chain, those who also believe in the AMDEA commitment to product quality, consumer safety and sustainability. These new associate members will include

organisations involved in the provision of training, insurance and warranty schemes, servicing, repair, recovery, refurbishment, reuse, recycling, and end of life disposal of domestic appliances. AMDEA CEO Stefan Hay says: “We already

welcome all retailers who market their own appliance brands as full AMDEA members- retailers are a vital partner in the appliance market. We also recognise that AMDEA holds a unique position of being able to convene the wider industry to discuss issues such as how best to deliver the circular economy, and there are clear supply chain interdependencies at policy, regulatory and compliance levels. “Whilst we are still at the exploratory stage, we are excited about our plans to introduce
