Samsung’s Bespoke AI 11kg A-rated energy efficient washing machines were launched last year and features SpaceMax Technology. Dan Barfield, head of sales, domestic appliances, at Samsung, says: “With this innovative technology, we were able to fit a larger sized drum in the same space as a 9kg washing machine, which is perfect for busy households. These washing machines are equipped with a number of clever features such as Ecobubble Technology. The technology mixes air, water, and detergent to create bubbles that wash clothes at cooler temperatures, helping to reduce energy bills. “Other features include a hygiene steam

the right program using the correct amount of detergent. Or washing machines with smart functions that allow users to set regular programs as their favourites via the Home Connect app.” Anything to help raise awareness of these new
technologies will ultimately help users choose the best model for their requirements. There are also some misperceptions
surrounding energy saving (for example, many consumers assume a ‘quick’ program must use less energy as it doesn’t run for as long – which is generally not the case). Therefore, it’s worthwhile taking some time to explain the energy label and which program it relates to. Miele’s Mr Christian says: “Be as informed as possible. Every customer has a different priority when buying a new smart appliance – for some it will always be price, but increasingly consumers are more aware about the impact major appliances have on the planet and want to understand a product’s eco credentials. “Make sure you know them and can communicate the benefits of spending more on an appliance that has been made using mostly sustainable materials and the lower running cost of energy consumption.” Mr Christian adds that Miele offers an award- winning training programme for its retail

function which tackles germs and reduces up to 99.99% of common bacteria and allergens,” Mr Barfield says. Beko says its key washing machine models (B5W5841AW, B5W51041AW, B5W5941AW) feature innovative AquaTech technology, which delivers quicker, kinder washes every time. “By replacing vigorous drum movements with water and detergent that cascades from the top of the drum, these machines provide more gentle washes; without sacrificing performance,” says Beko’s Mr Bhardwaj. In 2023, Beko will launch a new energy efficient AquaTech model. “In addition to top A-class energy ratings,
our key washing machine models feature innovative technologies,” Mr Bhardwaj says. “For example, recycled plastic bottles are used in the production of our RecycledTub washing machine and washer dryer tubs, accounting for up to 10% of the materials used in each tub. By transforming recycled plastic bottles into high-performance materials, Beko is taking small steps to reduce the embedded carbon footprint of the product, whilst also minimising the use of virgin plastic.” LG says the ezDispense F4V909WTSA washing machine offers a host of innovative technology to help make laundry easier, faster, and more efficient. David Palmer, senior product specialist,

home appliances at LG, says: “Our ezDispense system doses correctly for your machine based on information like load and fabric characteristics, with dosing up to 20 loads. “Our technology uses a hybrid box system, if the user does not use softener, they can utilise that compartment for a specialist detergent or additional main detergent, which allows up to 35 loads.” Mr Palmer says that automatic dosing cuts
down on waste, as most people overdose their washes considerably. “Our system, because of our AI DD
technology, uses less detergent. Correct dosing keeps clothes looking better for longer, stops waste, increased detergent purchases and maintains product lifespan for longer.” ASKO currently offers three washing machine models in the UK: Style, Logic, and Classic. Stuart Wilson, national account manager
for ASKO, says: “Each one of our models are designed for a different purpose while simultaneously complementary to each other, so that users can effortlessly combine any washing machine with any tumble dryer, hidden helpers or drying cabinets. “All three models are packed with innovative
features and made with quality steel parts, so no matter what ASKO washing machine you opt for, it’s guaranteed to be a trusty investment that’s built to last.”
