feature: spring fair preview

The are some major stands and brands in

this hall, as well as some that are worth a closer look (see ‘Electricals on show’). The majors take this opportunity to showcase the key electrical brands they distribute or own and, in most cases, their range of housewares products too. According to Charlie Cracknell, Portfolio

Director at Spring Fair, “Electronics retailing remains a key driver of profit and sales in the sector. For Spring Fair 2020 we’ll have a number of key areas that every buyer from an electronic goods stockist should be visiting; the Everyday sector will serve as the whole show in one space with the very best in household appliances and other living and fitness products; Retail Solutions will offer a range of essential, must-have B2B tech; while Gift and Play & Tech is set to deliver on the toys and gadgets that will excite all throughout 2020. The re-edit means that all these sectors have been totally refreshed to help buyers to maximise their time at the event to find, source and place orders of the newest products set to drive sales in 2020 and beyond. We’ll also be looking forward to welcoming brands like, R K Wholesale, Spot Promotions and JML who will be bringing their new-for-2020 ranges.” EPE will focus at this year’s show on Tefal SDA

and cookware, Beko, Russell Hobbs, Breville, Melitta and Karcher, with promotional deals on offer. ESG Europasonic, home of the Hairy Bikers, has the Daewoo brand of SDA and heating, while RKW has Black & Decker heating & cooling and additions to its own brand Tower including irons and an air fryer oven. Ultimate Products has chosen its Beldray

cordless vacuums and 2-in-1 cordless steam iron as stand-out products for the show alongside the Salter AeroCook Pro air fryer. According to Valentino Ricioppo, SDA Sales Director at Ultimate Products, “Our Beldray Revo, a handheld sleek vacuum cleaner perfect for quick tidy-ups, is a great example of how

we’re developing our ranges to include really convenient products, but ensuring the price point is affordable for mass market.” Rob Sutton, founder and managing

director at Tower brand owner RKW, says the Spring Fair is an important showcase for the company as it “allows us to meet our customers and showcase the broad range of brands and products we have in our portfolio.” It is also a key opportunity to show the results of a busy round of npd. “The SDA market has a lot of brands and if you want your product to really stand out, you have to invest in design as well as features. The RKW design & buying teams are always looking out for the next trend. We have seen that translate successfully into retail sales as well as interest from the consumer media. “We have many new and exciting product ranges being launched this year and we are confident they will become top sellers for our retail partners,” says Rob.

Spring Fair ( runs at the NEC Birmingham from 2-6 February 2020 with the Everyday sector opening on 1 February. Sarah Selzer is Managing Director of specialist homewares PR agency PR Direct and is a regular visitor to trade shows.
