Millions of adults claim they’re ‘too busy’ for cleaning and housework, according to new research.

The demands of modern life, such as balancing working hours with looking after children, results in a third of adults struggling to find time to take care of their home. Only half of the 2,000 adults polled by Beko, set aside time

each week to clean their home and three in 10 only find time for housework on the weekends. The seasonal practise of spring cleaning, that was once loyally

carried out by proud home owners, is an old-fashioned tradition that’s phasing out, according to 38 per cent. A further 45 per cent believe previous generations had more

time for household chores and almost two thirds wish there were more time saving solutions for cleaning.

room in the house which takes the longest to make sparkling, followed by the bathroom and living room. Keval Shah from home appliance brand Beko, which has recently launched Europe’s first AutoDose Connected dishwasher, said: “With such busy modern lives housework isn’t a priority for many of us anymore. Whilst we all like to be house-proud, it’s difficult to find the time. “Our new research shows that time saving is an important issue, especially with people working longer hours than in the past and enjoying busy social lives. As a result, traditional housework is taking a back seat. “Thankfully, modern technology is helping us to save time in all aspects of our daily activities, including cleaning.” http://www.beko.co.uk/

New space saving cooling from Amica P

erfect for a kitchen where space is short or as a replacement for an older appliance, Amica’s new FC2093 larder fridge is

just 55cm wide compared to the usual 60cm. There is a strong replacement market for 55cm fridges for both consumers looking for extra storage and this size is also popular in social housing. The fridge is 1235mm high so there’s an impressive 204 litres of cooled storage space – perfect for fresh foods. It has four shelves, a roomy salad crisper, four spacious door balconies and has an A+ energy rating. “The FC2093 is the ideal choice for a family that buys a lot of fresh food or looking for spill-over-space,” says Amica’s

Marketing Manager Steve Corbett. “The recent rise in energy costs has made consumers more aware of the need to reduce electricity consumption – and replacing an old fridge is one of the best ways to save. Fridges and freezers are running 24 hours a day and many older kitchen appliances are likely to use many times more energy over life than was used to manufacture them. Typically, an A+ rated fridge freezer bought now is over 49 percent cheaper to run than one bought in 1991 because it uses much less energy. “
