Staffordshire’s Protek celebrates 28 years in business

A

family-run electrical distribution equipment manufacturer is celebrating its 28th anniversary aſter growing from a team of three to 24 employees at its Staffordshire site. Over nearly three decades, the business has expanded from supplying domestic consumer units and garage units to producing electrical distribution equipment for increasingly large and complex commercial and industrial installations.

Its anniversary also marks the contribution of a long- serving workforce, including Mark Mabbley and Kerri Stretton, who have both been with Protek since its first day. Today, three generations of the family work within Protek. Director Rinaldo Thomas works alongside his daughter Joanne Thomas and his grandsons Gabriel and Alexander Scuotto, who are Joanne’s nephews. Protek’s product range has changed considerably over the years with its early focus on domestic single-phase equipment expanding into three-phase distribution equipment, switch disconnectors and switch fuses, followed by 400A and 800A panel boards. More recently, the company has developed its range of switchboards and larger distribution equipment rated above 1000A, reflecting the growing scale and complexity of the projects it supports.
