JTL’s Merseyside Training Centre to open doors in 2027
L
eading apprenticeship provider JTL will be opening its new Merseyside Training Centre in Huyton early in 2027, expanding access to high-quality electrical apprenticeship training across the region.
The centre represents an investment of approximately £1 million in local skills and apprenticeship provision and will provide capacity for up to 256 apprentices, supported by a dedicated team of eight experienced tutors, training offi cers and specialist colleagues. Designed to meet the evolving skills needs of the Merseyside area, the new centre will bring together employers, apprentices and educators under one roof, helping local businesses recruit the skilled people they need to grow. It comes at a time of growing demand for skilled electricians and building services professionals in Merseyside and nationally, driven by the need to deliver new homes, upgrade infrastructure and accelerate the installation of low-carbon technologies.

he Electrical Industries Charity (EIC) is encouraging employers across the electrical and energy sector to review their workplace policies and procedures in light of signifi cant changes to employment law that came into eff ect on 30 October 2026.
Since October 2024, employers have been required to “take reasonable steps” to prevent sexual harassment at work. From October 2026, employers are required to take all reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment, with liability extending to harassment from third parties, such as customers, clients and contractors.
Failure to comply could expose organisations to increased legal risk, reputational damage and employment tribunal claims. Employers will be expected to demonstrate that they have assessed workplace risks, implemented preventative measures and provided appropriate training to employees.
