he new device “removes one of the last major barriers” to KNX building automation in retrofit and refurbishment projects, according to German manufacturer B.E.G., because it eliminates the need for KNX BUS cable installation.


For decades, KNX has set the global benchmark for building automation, offering seamless integration between manufacturers, proven stability, and enhanced security and energy efficiency.


However, its use in existing buildings was often hindered by the complex, disruptive, and costly process of routing KNX BUS cabling through walls and ceilings.

refurbishment, the new device functions using standard three-wire power connections with no KNX BUS wiring required. Signal transmission is handled via the 868.3 MHz RF frequency, which offers strong penetration through typical UK building materials, ensuring robust and reliable communication.


As part of the bidirectional KNX RF system, the device integrates with existing KNX TP (Twisted Pair) networks via a TP/RF media coupler. Commissioning is carried out using the ETS software, just as with conventional KNX TP devices, ensuring a familiar workflow for KNX integrators.
