InstallationNews Vent-Axia provides discreet

ventilation in Victorian cottage refurb Leading British ventilation manufacturer Vent-Axia has supplied one of its Silent Fans to a Victorian cottage renovation in Cambridgeshire.

G

emma Waterhouse, a full- time working single mum of three kids, bought the two-bedroom cottage at auction. When it came to overhauling the bathroom, Gemma knew she needed a sleek, discreet fan as it is one of the first things you see as you enter the bathroom. Installed by PJB Electrical Services, Vent-Axia’s Silent Fan’s discreet design fitted the bill perfectly, offering visual silence, as well as silent operation. With any bathroom refurbishment, ventilation is key to ensuring good indoor air quality (IAQ) and freedom from condensation and mould. But with the Silent Fan, electricians can offer

‘visual silence’ and acoustic silence too, overcoming the problem of noisy, obtrusive bathroom fans. The aesthetics of the Silent Fan boast simple, clean lines with an attractive, slimline fascia that looks like a bathroom tile.

An average extract fan operates at 35dB(A), which is loud in a confined space. Vent-Axia’s whisper-quiet Silent Fan offers ultra-low sound levels from just 12dB(A), making it the quietest fan on the market. The range also offers electricians flexibility, making install a breeze, since it is available with 17 different models. The range includes an IPX5-rating, variable speed models, humidistat options and both intermittent and continuous

ventilation models, as well as the option of open and closed grilles. For a customer’s peace of mind, as well as a peaceful bathroom, the Silent Fan has been awarded Quiet Mark certification, which recognises the quietest solutions to unwanted noise.

Complying fully with the current Building Regulations Approved Document F and L the Silent Fan is designed for wall, ceiling, window and panel mounting. Plus, the Silent Fan will fit into existing 100mm ducts, and is fully compatible with existing silent fan installations making it ideal for replacement applications. Households will be keen to keep energy bills to a minimum and so the Silent Fan’s

energy efficient motor with an energy consumption of between 1.7 to 7.5 Watts is another great selling point.

www.vent-axia.com Product News World-first KNX RF Sensor hailed

as ‘milestone for the industry’ B.E.G. has launched the world’s first deluxe KNX presence detector with radio frequency (RF) transmission.

T

he new device “removes one of the last major barriers” to KNX building automation in retrofit and refurbishment projects, according to German manufacturer B.E.G., because it eliminates the need for KNX BUS cable installation.

For decades, KNX has set the global benchmark for building automation, offering seamless integration between manufacturers, proven stability, and enhanced security and energy efficiency.

However, its use in existing buildings was often hindered by the complex, disruptive, and costly process of routing KNX BUS cabling through walls and ceilings.

Designed specifically for modernisation and ewnews.co.uk

refurbishment, the new device functions using standard three-wire power connections with no KNX BUS wiring required. Signal transmission is handled via the 868.3 MHz RF frequency, which offers strong penetration through typical UK building materials, ensuring robust and reliable communication.

As part of the bidirectional KNX RF system, the device integrates with existing KNX TP (Twisted Pair) networks via a TP/RF media coupler. Commissioning is carried out using the ETS software, just as with conventional KNX TP devices, ensuring a familiar workflow for KNX integrators.

The RF version has a ten-metre detection range, dual light sensors for precision in challenging lighting, infrared, acoustic, and

temperature sensing, adjustable sensor sensitivity, integrated HCL (Human Centric Lighting) control with three pre-set lighting curves for education, office, and industrial environments and full KNX Secure compliance for protection against unauthorised access. www.beg-luxomat.com
