The Electrical Industries Charity urges industry empathy


he Employee and Family Support Programme (EFP) was launched by the

Electrical Industries Charity (EIC) in order to give a helping hand to employees and their families in their time of need. The Charity is encouraging the industry to sign up to the Programme today and give hope for a better tomorrow to thousands of people within the electrical sector. Staff productivity is a critical factor for any

organisation, but equally as important is recognising the personal life of employees. Every year there are hundreds of families within the sector who are faced with unexpected challenges in their lives and have no one to turn to for that essential support. This is why EIC launched the Employee and Family Support Programme, which is solely funded by powerLottery and is part of the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP). Through the Employee and Family Support

Programme, EIC is able to provide financial relief and practical support services to people and their immediate families who have worked or are working in electrical and energy-related industries. The support services that EIC offers include debt advice, telephone counselling, carer support network, career advice and financial assistance and grants which helps to address

issues such as family or relationship problems, mental health issues, ill health and disability. Over the years, EIC has supported thousands of

employees and their families and given them an opportunity to move forward with their lives. Now you too can make a huge difference in someone’s life and help EIC to not only give vital support to those who are struggling, but also to turn their dreams into reality and give hope for the future.

Amel Gharbi appointed as Recolight Operations Manager

the role of Operations and Compliance Manager. Amel has over 10 years’ experience in Logistics & Compliance Management. She joins Recolight from Baker Hughes, a GE company, where she was responsible for logistics compliance and freight sourcing. Amel has hand-on experience in a wide range of logistics, supplier monitoring, and compliance activities. Commenting on her appointment, Amel said: “I am delighted to be joining Recolight at an exciting time, as open scope drives further company growth.” Announcing the news, Recolight Chief Executive, Nigel Harvey commented:

Ellis gets to grips with product lifespan C

able cleat innovator, Ellis has invesed £15k in new in- house testing technology that it says removes a

major barrier to entry into a number of new industries. The North Yorkshire manufacturer, which exports to over 40

countries, has purchased a QUV accelerated weathering tester machine that enables it to accurately predict the lifespan of all of its products; meaning they can sell them with a guaranteed lifespan. Richard Shaw, managing director of Ellis, said: “Up until now

we haven’t been able to guarantee a specific length of product life, which has proved to be a stumbling block when seeking to enter new markets – in particular when it comes to UV degradation of polymer products. And given polymer products have only been around for 40 years, there’s no historic supporting information available for them.” Ellis commissioned the unit in October, and has already commenced a testing programme that will eventually catalogue projected lifespans for every one of its numerous polymer products.
