Box clever with quality tools

Graham Godfrey, Brand Manager at C.K tools, looks at efficiency issues faced by tradesmen and the importance of stocking quality tools and equipment that directly respond to these issues.

solution in terms of products stocked can make all the difference to repeat custom for wholesalers. One major issue for electricians is efficiency on site without compromising on quality – with this in mind wholesalers should look to stock shelves with quality, time-saving products that meet industry standards, while maintaining the right mix of functionality. Quality equipment, designed specifically for the task at hand, plays a vital role in the quick and efficient completion of a project. Any tool that can provide significant time-saving on site equates to increased productivity and in turn profit – a benefit both electricians and wholesalers cannot afford to ignore. Ensuring the right tools are available for the job might seem like common sense, but it’s becoming an increasing issue among electrical professionals, impacting on their output and potentially putting their lives at risk whilst working with live electricity. After undertaking research with professional

electricians, Carl Kammerling identified that most carry a non-insulated stubby screwdriver. Despite understanding the importance of using insulated tools, electricians often encounter situations where their usual VDE screwdriver won’t fit. Addressing this issue, Carl Kammerling has launched the world’s first fixed blade VDE stubby screwdriver.

The new C.K Stubby VDE Slim Screwdrivers are designed to fill this problematic void; featuring a shorter length, they are ideal for use in confined spaces, and full VDE approval provides the assurance that each is individually tested to 10,000V for safe working up to 1,000V. In recent research Carl Kammerling noted an

increasing confusion amongst tradesmen about the difference between ‘insulated’ and ‘VDE’ tested tools, and in turn the difference in levels of safety. For many years tools on the market have been branded ‘insulated’, meaning only that the tools are coated with a material that is not a conductor of electricity. There is a European standard, IEC 60900, which sets out the insulation tests that every single conforming tool has to have to prove their safety. But the problem with this standard is that it is self-certified.

VDE mark Anyone could claim conformance with it and there is nobody to check. Only those tools that carry the VDE (Verband Der Elektrotechnik) mark offer the security of independent testing and certification of the product, production methods, test equipment and test process. Only by choosing a tool marked VDE, are

electricians safe in the knowledge that each tool has been individually tested to 10,000V – a sizeable voltage in comparison to the mere 50 volts that can cause substantial injuries. In addition to the essential safety of C.K Stubby

being VDE approved, premium quality, chrome vanadium steel blades provide exceptional strength and durability, while the slim shaft allows access to recessed screws and fixings, addressing the long-term problem of electricians being unable to access recessed screws safely. As with all of Carl Kammerling’s tool innovations, products are designed based on detailed collaboration with end-users. Thanks to this approach, Carl Kammerling identified a real need for safe, slim, stubby screwdrivers that provide electricians with the security that can only come from a VDE product. As the world’s first fixed blade VDE stubby

screwdriver, the C.K Stubby VDE Slim Screwdriver is filling a major gap in the market, and represents one of a number of significant, innovative launches from Carl Kammerling in 2017. Working in partnership with end users ensures

that Carl Kammerling International is able to deliver tool solutions that are best suited to the actual work undertaken by professional tradesmen and are matched to each sector’s specific and unique requirements. Good quality tools are imperative for all

electricians to help service demand quickly and efficiently and move on to the next job. Stocking the most innovative, quality products that will save tradesmen both time and money, can help wholesalers dramatically increase profits and guarantee that all important repeat custom.
