The start of the season

comes in the form of a heatwave! There’s a saying about waiting for buses that springs to mind… On a more serious note, the rising temperatures will likely get most of us thinking about climate change. The summer temperatures, incoming news reports and opinions from both the UN and IPCC are hard to ignore and harder to feel hopeful about, but there is always something to be done. The electrical wholesale industry in particular finds itself in a crucially influential position, able to upsell and stock pioneering eco-friendly products. So, it’s a rather poignant issue of EW this month.

Schneider Electric continues the conversation about green energy with a focus on consumer consumption and conservation (p14), and Marshall-Tufflex, similarly, walks us through the myriad benefits that come from making some environmentally-savvy changes – beyond fulfilling a common duty to our planet, of course (p26)! It’s not all doom and gloom, however, as

Additionally, Kidde breaks down the new Code

of Practice for fire alarms in housing, following the recent publication of BS 5839-6:2019. This is important information for all stockists carrying alarms, and familiarising yourself with the changes and additions can ensure that your customers walk away with the correct amount of alarms with the right specifications (p24). Xpelair combs through the ins and outs of

Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) systems, which are proving to be an increasingly popular solution for new build and refurbished properties (p27). And, ABB Emergi-Lite puts emergency power in the spotlight, highlighting the difference between Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) and Central Power Supplies (CPSs) (p32).
