OMC adds new dust-proof FDH1M SMA bulkhead receptacle to range of advanced fibre optic
connector systems Robust design with integrated dust seal ensures signal integrity in materials processing applications and high dust environments
OMC, the pioneer in optoelectronics design & manufacture, has announced a new receptacle for its range of fibre optic receiver and transmitter diodes. On display for the first time on Stand L30 at the Electronics Design Show, the new FDH1M SMA housing with integrated dust seal is an enhanced version of OMC’s popular FDH1 SMA bulkhead housing and is designed to protect signal integrity in fibre optic links in dust or powder contaminated environments, such as materials processing plants.
The FDH1M housing is a rugged, all-metal design with square base flange, featuring mounting holes in each corner to bolt down to the bulkhead, securing it firmly and helping to resist vibration and strain. As well as being far more robust than plastic housings, the all-metal construction of the FDH1M also helps screen the active device against radio frequency interference.
The new FDH1M SMA bulkhead receptacle is precision-machined and assembled in OMC’s purpose- built facility in the UK, and is available with a range of transmitter and receiver diodes aligned and housed within to form a dust-resistant transmitter or receiver module. The company’s engineering team has over 30 years of experience in the design of fibre optic datalinks and components, and specialises in tailoring their solutions to meet a customer’s bespoke requirements.

InnoSwitch3 AC-DC converter ICs Advanced GaN technology yields significant increase in power and efficiency
Power Integrations (Nasdaq: POWI), the leader in high-voltage integrated circuits for energy-efficient power conversion, today announced new members of its InnoSwitch™3 families of offline CV/CC flyback switcher ICs. The new ICs feature up to 95% efficiency across the full load range and up to 100 W in enclosed adapter implementations without requiring a heatsink. This groundbreaking increase in performance is achieved using an internally developed high-voltage GaN switch technology.
Quasi-resonant InnoSwitch3-CP, InnoSwitch3-EP and InnoSwitch3-Pro ICs combine primary, secondary and feedback circuits in a single surface-mounted package. In the newly released family members, GaN switches replace the traditional silicon high- voltage transistors on the primary side of the IC,
reducing conduction losses when current is flowing, and considerably reducing switching losses during operation. This results in substantially less wasted energy and therefore increased efficiency and power delivery from the space-saving InSOP-24D package.
Targeting high-efficiency flyback designs, such as USB-PD and high-current chargers/adapters for mobile devices, set-top boxes, displays, appliances, networking and gaming products, the new ICs provide accurate CV/CC/CP independent of external components, and easily interface to fast-charging protocol ICs. The InnoSwitch3-CP and EP variants are hardware-configurable, while the InnoSwitch3-Pro incorporates a sophisticated digital interface for software control of CV and CC setpoints, exception handing and safety-mode options.

Imm pitch hi-rel miniature connectors launched by Nicomatic
AMM Series devices available in standard configurations off-the-shelf with no MOQ
Nicomatic, the leading manufacturer of high- performance interconnect solutions, has launched a new series of 1.00mm pitch connectors for demanding space-constrained applications in harsh environments such as aerospace and industrial equipment. Five standard layouts with 6, 10, 20, 34, 50 contacts distributed over two rows are stocked in depth for immediate shipment.
Lightweight and secure, the new AMM series connectors have ingenious features such as the integrated guidance pin for stacking. Capable of carrying up to 4.8A (PCB to cable, 20 pins at 25°C)
or 2.5A (PCB to PCB, 20 pins at 25°C), the miniature connectors can withstand vibrations of 15G and shock of 100G; devices can handle up to 1000 mating cycles and can operate between -65 and 200°C.
Comments Alexis de Lassat, product manager at Nicomatic: “The optimisation of weight, space and simplicity is in our DNA at Nicomatic, so although we have standard parts available for off-the-shelf delivery, because of the its customisation options we offer, AMM series connectors can be supplied with exactly the number of pins the application requires. Our ordering process is simple, intuitive and streamlined. For applications where miniaturisation is paramount, versions are available without the mounting ears. For maximum reliability and ease of use, AMM connectors are sold pre-cabled.”
Despite this, the MOQ for these connectors is 1. Devices are available in surface mount and through-hole versions with a number of fixing options. 2D and 3D CAD drawings are available at:
