Northern Manufacturing Preview

Northern Manufacturing & Electronics 2019

N

orthern Manufacturing & Electronics returns to Manchester’s EventCity on the 2nd and 3rd of October. The 250 or so companies expected to take part this year between them represent a comprehensive range of production hardware, components, subassemblies and service providers. Northern Manufacturing & Electronics is the only

regular exhibition catering for electronics in the North West. Not surprisingly, given the concentration of manufacturing activities in the region, since the first event in 2013 it has established itself as one of the key marketplaces for both electronics procurement and subcontracting. With both electronics and mechanical engineering well represented, visitors have the opportunity to deal with a number of procurement challenges in one visit – an aspect of the show that consistently ranks very highly with visitors. Moreover, the show’s location at the centre of the UK’s biggest manufacturing region makes it a particularly interesting one for major vendors eager to address the exceptionally rich supply chain eco-system of the North West.

The usual excellent assortment of component suppliers and manufacturers presents visitors with an outstanding opportunity to discover the latest products across a wide range categories, including connectors, sensors, enclosures and other electromechanical components. Optimas Components will highlight its vast range of C-class components, including plastic and metal fasteners, caps and plugs, PCB accessories and cable management products. ESI Technology returns with its range of speciality

pressure transducers and transmitters featuring Silicon-on-Sapphire sensor technology for greater accuracy and reliability. FS Cables, a leading supplier of high-quality electrical cable, carries over 3,500 cables in stock, ready for next working-day delivery in the UK, including over 800 cables independently tested in the UK for CPR compliance. Luso Electronics will present a range of power supply solutions from its global portfolio of manufacturers. Highlights include the newest modular configurable units from Excelsys, including the leading edge fanless design CoolX range. Other popular products being showcased include the complete range of Efore and Delta Electronics industrial and medical PSU’s, a range of medical and rail-specific models from P-Duke, the 1U high- efficiency range from N2Power and high voltage models from HVM. There’s also custom enclosures from CDT and rugged connectors and cable assemblies from Fischer Connectors, intended for applications where signals, high speed data and power need to be delivered with 100 per cent reliability even in extreme conditions. Other highlights for component-hunters include custom membrane keyboards from Calman Technology,TFT LCD displays from Crystal-Tech Electronics and the new Datakey Crypto-Authentication memory token from Nexus Industrial Memory, designed to protect industrial applications from cyber threats. Electronics production systems and hardware is another important aspect of the event. Brady returns for 2019 with its professional range of label printers, label feeders and print and apply systems. Visitors can see the BSP61 Print & Apply System for fast, automatic PCB labelling anywhere along the

production line and the ALF14 Label Feeder that can automate the process to a wide range of installed pick and place machines. TalliScan showcases the Honeywell ScanPal EDA50 stock control handset running TalliScan’s handheld software. Integrating ERP API and Android apps, users can access all business critical information in real-time over Wi-Fi as well as performing fast, automated stocktaking. Advanced Manufacturing Services will use

Northern Manufacturing & Electronics to highlight its recently launched Neoden IN6 forced air convection six zone reflow oven. The compact single-phase oven offers full lead free capability and has six heating zones to allow the ideal soldering profile to be achieved without compromise. Including a conveyor, a cooling zone and a full colour display, it is the ideal starter reflow oven, says the company. Also on show will be a Neoden PM3040 stencil printer and its Neoden4 pick and place machine which has a placement rate of 10,000cph and features fiducial/camera alignment and electronic feeders. Components and hardware exhibits are complemented be an equally diverse selection of production services covering everything from PCB production to full contract assembly. Examples include Hallmark Electronics, a CEMS with its own in-house PCB manufacturing facility. Customers can benefit from a complete service of PCB, component procurement, assembly and test, just PCBs or just assembly. Flux Rose designs, develops and manufactures bespoke electronic control units for consumer, automotive and defence customers. It will be demonstrating its access platform controller, a microprocessor-controlled I/O module designed for automotive platforms. LCL Electronics is a Midlands- based contract electronics manufacturer, offering customers a full turnkey manufacturing solution including prototype, pre-production and medium volumes of PCBs, product build and cable harnessing. Working to BSI ISO 9001:2015 accreditations and producing RoHS compliant products. Other notable names exhibiting this year include European Circuits, UK Electronics, EMSProto, Contract Production and CIE Electronics, among many others. The show’s extensive free technical seminar

programme provides visitors the opportunity for a welcome break and the chance to benefit from high-value overviews of a wide variety of topics from an excellent selection of expert presenters; highlights for 2019 include award-winning author and Lean expert Gary Griffiths, TPM authority and writer Andy Brunskill, and the latest on CE Marking from Tim Harrison of the CE Marking Association. Business- oriented sessions include a detailed guide to growing your business from Made Smarter and the Manufacturing Growth Fund, including expert guidance on the help available in the region.
