Flexible solutions for modern test and measurement systems
In practice, many test and measurement systems quickly reach their limits: Rigid architectures make customization difficult, custom solutions are complex and costly, and as requirements increase, so does the effort required for integration. With TSEP THEMIS, TSEP offers a modular hardware platform that addresses precisely these challenges. By combining modular standard hardware, scalable architecture, and customizable expandability, TSEP THEMIS creates a future- proof foundation for test and measurement systems across a wide range of applications.
T
he THEMIS “Desktop” (tabletop) and “Rack” (19"/3U) standard enclosures form the basis for the rapid setup of test systems. They already include the central infrastructure with a power unit and CPU unit and provide space for up to three or seven modules or cards, respectively. This modular architecture makes it possible to configure test systems to meet specific needs and to expand them at any time as requirements change – without having to replace existing systems.
Thanks to its scalable architecture, THEMIS makes it quick and easy to combine multiple systems into a single, logical system. The individual devices work together as an integrated unit. This makes it possible to expand testing capacity in stages – without the need for costly system changes or new developments.

editing, and execution of complex test and measurement processes. Integrated status management ensures full transparency across all test processes – from planning to evaluation. Both manual and automated tests can be performed within a unified environment.
All test parameters and results are systematically stored in a database. This results in complete documentation that not only simplifies analysis but also enables the quick and reliable reuse of test sequences.
The testing procedure is based on the requirements of ISO 9000, thereby ensuring a consistently traceable and audit-ready process structure. All changes and test runs are automatically logged and versioned.
Test-related documents, as well as the software and hardware components used, can be unambiguously assigned to a specific test version. Test results are directly linked to the respective test plans. This enables complete reproducibility of all tests, which means a decisive advantage for quality assurance, certifications, and audits.
Integrating modern USB interfaces with the USBTMC adapter
For many manufacturers of measuring instruments, implementing a USBTMC interface involves considerable effort: They must develop their own software stacks, procure specialized chips in large quantities, and carry out complex integrations. This poses a financial challenge, especially for small and medium production runs. The TSEP USBTMC adapter was specifically designed for applications where traditional solutions

are not economically viable. Manufacturers benefit from a ready-to-use interface solution without having to invest in their own hardware or software development. By utilizing the new FX5 microcontroller, the USBTMC adapter achieves significantly higher data rates and supports all common USB ports up to 20 Gbits transfer rate. This makes the solution suitable for data-intensive applications where fast and stable communication is critical. TSEP supplies the adapter as a complete solution, including hardware and the USBTMC software stack. There is no need for custom implementation or complex configuration of USB components, as is required, for example, with USB OTG solutions. This reduces development effort, shortens project timelines, and minimizes technical risks. The USBTMC adapter can be integrated directly into customer- specific hardware or, alternatively, used as an external adapter via a USB port. This makes it easy to expand or retrofit both new devices and existing systems. Visit TSEP at electronica 2026 in Munich in hall A4, booth 628.
