Nothing is as small – Nothing responds as fast Semitec’s Thermal Sensor from ATC Semitec
When an application requires thermistors with a rapid response time - the Semitec FT micro thin film SMD thermistor can be regarded as the golden standard. As one of the world’s thinnest temperature sensors, the Semitec FT outperforms similar products due to their miniature size, exceptionally fast response time and high heat resistance.
Miniaturisation
One of their primary uses is the thermal protection of IGBT and Sic MOSFET junction temperatures, especially when they are used in e-vehicle and other high-power applications. Their unique construction and miniature form (down to 0201) enables the FT to be placed closer to transistor junctions where it can quickly sense rapid changes in temperature, offering the user the best chance of sensing, controlling and smoothing temperature fluctuations. The overall benefit is that the IGBT’s output and lifetime can be maximised.
Fast response Semitec’s FT thermistor is at the forefront of NTC thermistor technology. Using thin-film sputter technology, the FT thermistor is manufactured on 150micron (or thinner) ceramic substrate. The primary benefit of this feature is the very fast thermal response the FT exhibits when mounted onto a heater or power component surface. The thermal time constant can be as small as 0.5 sec for the smallest 0201 package.

Power Integrations Combines Programmability, High Efficiency and Small Form Factor in New Zero-Voltage- Switching Power-Supply ICs
InnoSwitch4-Pro family of flyback switchers enable over 95 percent efficient, compact, USB PD and Universal Fast Charging Specification adapters up to 220 W
Power Integrations (NASDAQ: POWI), the leader in high-voltage integrated circuits (ICs) for energy-
efficient power conversion, today announced the InnoSwitch™4-Pro family of digitally controllable, off-line CV/CC Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS) flyback ICs, which substantially reduce the size of power adapters. Incorporating a robust PowiGaN gallium-nitride primary switch and steady-state switching frequency of up to 140 kHz, the highly integrated devices reduce the component count and PCB area required for ultra-compact adapters for cellphone, notebook, tablet and multi-port accessories. “InnoSwitch4-Pro ICs interface seamlessly with Power Integrations’ ClampZero™ family of active clamp ICs to achieve ZVS in both continuous conduction mode (CCM) and discontinuous conduction mode (DCM),” stated Aditya Kulkarni, product marketing manager at Power Integrations. “ZVS, combined with our PowiGaN™ technology, virtually eliminates switching losses. Efficiency exceeds 95 percent, which enables designers to eliminate the heat sinks, spreaders and potting materials typically required for thermal management.
Further size reduction of the adapter can be achieved by the use of a MinE-CAP™ device in combination with InnoSwitch4-Pro and ClampZero ICs. Based also on PowiGaN technology, MinE-CAP ICs enable input capacitance size reduction of approximately 40 percent.

AS6081-certified distributor Princeps invests in and expands anti-counterfeiting facilities; supplies fully traceable difficult-to-source and obsolete components
One of only 2 or 3 UK distributors to hold AS6081; global sourcing for aerospace, defence, energy, transporation sectors
Princeps, the accredited specialist distributor of obsolete and difficult-to-source electronic, electrical and e-mech components for advanced industries, announces it has received renewed AS6081 accreditation following its relocation to larger premises. One of less than five and probably as few as two UK distributors to hold AS6081 certification, Princeps specialises in sourcing fully-traceable components for customers in advanced industries, including aerospace, defence, energy and transportation. The AS6081 standard was created in 2012 by the global engineering association SAE International in response to a significant and increasing volume of fraudulent or counterfeit electronic parts entering the supply chain. It standardizes practices to identify reliable sources, mitigate the risk of distributing fraudulent or counterfeit parts and control and report those suspect or confirmed items to the relevant authorities and potential users. Following its recent relocation to larger premises, Princeps has invested further in its laboratory facilities and renewed its existing AS6081 certification to reflect its new location as required by the association.

Smiths Interconnect launches new fixed chip attenuators offering proven high performance in commercial applications
AT Series ensures ease of installation in an optimized single-chip design
Smiths Interconnect, a leading provider of technically differentiated electronic components, subsystems, microwave, optical and radio frequency products, announces the launch of its new AT Series of RF chip attenuators from DC to 20 GHz. RF chip attenuators are components used in communication systems to reduce the strength of a signal passing through it. They play a crucial role in protecting systems from receiving a signal with a power level that is too high to process. The range being introduced from Smiths Interconnect is significant because it offers a high frequency of DC to 20 GHz which is required for use in key commercial and space applications. “The single-chip design of the AT Series replaces an array of resistors, saving valuable board space and allowing an easy installation in the customer’s circuit”, said Tullio Panarello, VP and General Manager of the Fibre Optics and RF Components Business Unit at Smiths Interconnect. “The customer’s cost of ownership is decreased by reducing the bill of material and eliminating tuning of the circuit while adding more reliability”, he added.

Available through Powell Electronics are EESeal+ EMC filters from Quell offering improved attenuation and simple grounding
Powell Electronics, the supplier of connectors and more for high-rel applications including defence, aerospace and industrial, is stocking Quell’s EESeal+ EMI filter inserts with improved attenuation and frequency mitigation. The inserts are easily and quickly inserted into standard connectors in seconds without the need for any special tooling or soldering, forming an effective EMI filter and maintaining the environmental seal. Customized samples are available at very short lead times. The products benefit from Quell’s patented EESeal+
technology which uses EMC filter components embedded into a silicone rubber insert that matches the size, shape and pin configuration of the connector to be filtered. Transient suppressors can also be included. Users can specify which filter elements are required for each pin, allowing for the creation of a completely custom filter insert with widely varying capacitor values, shorts and opens as desired. The EESeal+ technology benefits from lower contact resistance and lower inductance than standard EESeals due to the improved ground plane. Peak attenuation is around 45-50dB and customers have seen frequency mitigation as high as 100GHz. In addition to EMI filters the EESeal+ filters make it easy to ground pins to the shell such as the coaxial shields in Combo D-Sub connectors as well as ARINC and coaxial circular connections.

Compact, cordless, clever: Panasonic’s new insulated electric screwdriver
With the launch of the EYED11SA Li-Ion powered screwdriver, Panasonic convincingly enters the world of the red-and-yellow insulated tools
The typical red and yellow handle or housing design has been established to easily identify tools that are particularly insulated and the right choice for working on machinery or devices that cannot be easily or entirely seperated from electric circuits.
Panasonic enters now the market for insulated power tools - and presents its lightweight, Li-Ion driven and reliably insulated screwdriver EYED11SA. “A screwdriver is one of the simplest, but most frequently used tools in literally every area of crafts and engineering”, says Kunihiko Nedachi from Panasonic’s Power Tool department. “That’s why our focus had been to consequently maximize the comfort, safety and reliability of our insulated electric screwdriver.”
Lightweight, ergonomic and convenient
The EYED11SA measures only 145mm in length and weighs just 220g. The tool is designed for single- handed operation – the buttons for forward or reverse mode are ultimately easy to reach and the same applies to the switch between run-down driving and manual tightening. The Li-Ion battery is simply to be charged via USB-C connection and offers sufficient capicity for getting the jobs done: After 45 minutes of rapid charging, the battery has enough power for approximately 600 M3x5 metal screws.
