FROM THE EDITOR Summer vibes!

Welcome to the August issue of Footwear Today! I hope you’re all having a wonderful Summer so far and managing to find time to take a break. I really don’t know where this year has gone – how is it August already?! Before we know it, Autumn will be just around the corner! But I’m getting ahead of myself. Before

then we’ve got some of the footwear industry’s biggest shows, including our very own Footwear Today Live on 17-18 August back at the NCC in Birmingham! We’ve got hundreds of leading footwear, fashion and accessories brands all showcasing their latest collections and they’ll be ready for you to put your orders in for the season ahead. The show itself has grown rapidly in recent years, which is testament to its popularity and how valuable retailers find the show.

Therefore, it’s important to make the most of your visit. Look up the brands that are in attendance and organise meetings at the show; it’ll be the most efficient way to spend your time there so you can maximise the opportunity to see all your favourite brands!

We are so excited to be back; I hope to see many of you there. Official show guides will be handed out at the event, but you can read the show preview in this issue on pages 10-11. Also this month we’ve got a preview of MICAM – which celebrates its 100th edition in September. From what we’ve heard already, the organisers are going big with this one, and why not when it’s such a huge milestone for the show. As well as that, we’ve got exclusive interviews with Laura Vita and Salamander, plus a really interesting Retailer of the Month article with a beautiful store, Just Shoes in Whitstable, Kent. I enjoyed talking to the Owner, Louise, getting her take on the state of the footwear retail market in the UK.
