Skechers pledge support as the power is handed to the industry
T
he 2019 edition of the Footwear Industry Awards is well underway, and Skechers – a global leader in the performance and lifestyle footwear
industry – has committed its support as headline sponsor of the prestigious scheme, designed to champion excellence across the footwear sector.
Skechers joins the line-up of companies already sponsoring which
includes Cherry Blossom, Hotter, Legero and Superfit and supporters the British Footwear Association (BFA), Footwear Friends, Footwear Today and The Society of Shoe Fitters.
The next step With entries and nominations now closed for all but one category, the Footwear Industry Awards moves to its next step: the decision- making process.
Those that are in the running must rally the support of the industry
and encourage their peers to submit a vote for them through the online form on the Footwear Industry Awards website. In the industry and retailer categories, the support of the industry is even more crucial as the online vote will be the only deciding factor – producing a shortlist of companies and ultimately one winner, the recipient of the highest number of votes in each category.
In the brand categories, the voting process will produce a shortlist of
companies that will then be put to a specially selected panel of industry experts, who will decide upon the winners.
Voting will open on the Footwear Industry Awards website on Monday
5 November, giving companies five weeks to drum up support before the deadline of Friday 7 December.
The winners will be announced on Sunday 17 February 2019 – following the
first day of the MODA Footwear Show – at a premium awards dinner taking place at Birmingham’s National Conference Centre.
Tickets are available to purchase on the Footwear Industry Awards
website, and prices include an exclusive cocktail reception; three-course meal with fine wine; high profile awards presentations; entertainment from a special guest host and an evening of unrivalled networking opportunities.

Show us your shop front! While entries may have closed, independent footwear retailers still have an opportunity to win at the Footwear Industry Awards 2019 by showing off their creative flair in the Shop Front of the Year category.
An essential part of the retail experience, inspired window displays are the
perfect way to draw in custom and drum up excitement among customers. Cheryl Taylor, senior editor of Footwear Today, comments: “The Shop Front of the Year award is highly coveted and is presented to the retailer that demonstrations the highest levels of passion and artistic flair.”
What’s more, the overall winner of Shop Front of the Year will receive £1,500 of holiday vouchers.
All independent retailers are welcome to enter this category – all that is
required is the retailer information and a photo or two of the outstanding window display. Retailers need not worry about the photos being of a professional standard – all that needs to shine through is the passion and creativity that has gone into the window display.
Agents and manufacturers can also nominate a retailer with a fabulous
window display with the retailer’s permission. Entries and nominations can be submitted on the Footwear Industry Awards website or sent directly to Sue Wiseman up until the deadline of Friday 11 January 2019.
