THE GATWICK FOOTWEAR SHOW REVIEW
THE GATWICK FOOTWEAR SHOW 9-10TH SEPTEMBER, 2018
The Gatwick Footwear Show was well attended this season and has become the largest Children’s Footwear Fair in the UK with 25 children’s footwear brands taking part. The timing of the show four weeks after the MODA Show, and its location, at the Holiday Inn, Horley, Gatwick, make it a popular event for retailers attending from the South East of England, including London, and those travelling from further afield.
“On the day that I attended the Gatwick Footwear Show, the agents were busy with retailers on the stands, many clearly taking orders. I was impressed by the amazing array of children’s footwear on display, including some lovely collections that I hadn’t seen before. I also enjoyed the comfortable hotel atmosphere, with its complimentary coffee, tea and pastries.” Cheryl Taylor, Editor, Footwear Today Magazine.
What the Exhibitors had to say:
Footwear agent, Jeremy Hewitt, who organises The Gatwick Show, reported great show again this season, both for buyers wishing to see all brands in one convenient venue, and for established retailers to place orders with known winners. Jeremy’s brand, Shewitts, was exhibiting with Lurchi by Salamander, Noel,
Oomphies, Holees and Lambretta. Jeremy commented: “Our Lurchi and Noel sandals have achieved a fantastic
sell through and orders have reflected a brilliant Summer Season. Lurchi also launched a new cork and leather lined range with prices from £13- £15 which set Gatwick alight! “We launched our new Californian designed Children’s Canvas brand Oomphies this season and after a very successful trial are available to all. The bright colours, good fit and prices from £7 to £10 have hit the
spot. The best colours were the camo, both girls and boys styles.”
Inger Breitenstein, Breitenstein Agencies, showing BOBUX, Veja Kids, and Angulus reported a good show for her brands this season:“BOBUX has grown to become a very strong brand choice for young feet size 19-26. BOBUX has had a very strong sale through in the shops and even in a difficult

very strong story about sustainability. The ‘athleisure’ look is in fashion and demand and Veja offered a product that is comfortable to wear, cool to look at and is the most sustainable shoe on the market.” “For adults Veja is stocked in top retailer and the Veja Kids is following close

The first walking range from Angulus size 18-25 is very popular and offers a very classic look with a modern twist manufactured in the best chrome free leather with organic leather lining. David Roberts, BoBell said “We had a great reaction to the new BoBell collection from existing and new customers who visited us in Gatwick: “We now have a group of Toddler shoes and boots that we are able to repeat in season in a 2/3 week window. This is proving to be a very successful group. Retailers are still able to colour the collection how they wish, with numerous feature leathers available, enabling them to offer colour combinations that are unique to their business. BoBell is still 100% Portuguese Manufactured using European Leathers and components.
While, Pauly Tong, Froddo, commented: “Thanks to the Preview in Footwear Today, the insert for The Gatwick Show and the additional promotion in the summer, the customers that we invited and said they would come, all turned up for the two day event. We have also managed to establish a new contact from Dublin who dropped in and out in a day. “We believe in The Gatwick Show, this is the biggest children's footwear event in the Southern region of the UK, there were 25 brands shown this summer. It was great catching up with our customers, other children's brands after a busy back to school, and to see some new faces. I can see that with the innovative additional promotion, Gatwick show could become an international show !! Froddo has rebooked the Gatwick Show for the next season 24th & 25th February 2019.” Pauly Tong, Froddo.
