Balluff's new flexible mode SmartLight
alluff's flexible mode SmartLight provides two never- before-seen applications: user defined segments and
point-of-use indication. Flexible mode allows every LED segment to be controlled individually, massively increasing the process visualisation capability over existing stack lights. "The flexible mode of the SmartLight is a game changer
in two ways. Firstly, you have full control of the individual LED stages so users are no longer constrained by the number of segments that we decide someone needs," said Russell Smith, Product Manager Industrial Networking and Safety Balluff Ltd. "Secondly, you can define segments to suit the application, using a larger element for personnel who need visual data from a distance and smaller elements for those in the work envelope. No one can do that on the market." Finer segment control means the lights are no longer confined only to machine status applications but also facilitates their use for process status and control visualisation to production operatives.

ATEX-certified temperature monitoring and more
luke Process Instruments will present infrared thermometers and thermal imagers at the Achema trade show in Frankfurt, Germany. Intrinsically safe temperature sensors are available for use in hazardous environments. These support both fully automatic monitoring of measurement points with standalone devices and networked installations for IoT-enabled factory automation. Industrial-grade Raytek Thermalert TX pyrometers measure temperatures up to 2,000 °C. With cooling, they tolerate ambient temperatures up to 315 °C. Raytek Compact MI3 sensors have been designed for easy machine and plant integration. Two rugged, digital sensor heads can be used with one power supply and communication box at minimal costs per measuring point. Various fieldbus and Industrial Ethernet interface options are available. Both series comprise Ex i pyrometers for various spectral ranges and optics for different measurement distances. Thermal imaging solutions from Fluke Process Instruments for the process industry are based on the Raytek MP150 infrared linescanner.

Making sure the robot arm does not shake W
Reliable lightweight construction brakes for demanding applications
hether in medical engineering or in industrial robots collaborating with
humans in production lines – robot arms must not drop or crash in an uncontrolled manner after power switch-off or in case of power failure or emergency stop. This is guaranteed by the reliable safety brakes by mayr® power transmission. With their extremely slimline construction shape and their low weight, they are ideally tailored to robotics requirements, and are easily able to withstand the demanding ambient conditions in such applications.
