ritish Gas celebrated the 10-year milestone with a week of fun events for staff that included throwing wet sponges at colleagues in the stocks and a pop-up photo booth – all of which raised funds for the local charity, LOROS, which provides hospice care in Leicestershire. The week culminated with a buffet lunch and a charity prize raffle, for which

Under a seven-year maintenance contract signed in 2013 – the longest KNAPP service agreement to date – the KNAPP engineers provide a 24/7/365 service that includes preventative

maintenance, spare parts management, hotline support, IT services and emergency repair. With the life

TGW Logistics Group to provide an innovative clutch brake solution for a conveyor application that will be employed in some of the world’s largest distribution networks.

TGW Logistics Group, a global systems provider of automated logistic solutions, has been working with the experts at SG Transmission to find a solution for a mechanical roller conveyor system, which needed to be custom designed to fit within the existing system’s space envelope.

The solution is a combination of a clutch and brake developed

with a design brief to withstand five million cycles with maximum load, in a 24/7 environment, with an extended lifecycle.

SG Transmission has the in-house capability to work with the customer to provide a solution which developed the client’s previous product further. Paul Short, technical manager at SG Transmission, says: “This project was very challeng gin but we managed to provide an improved technical solution for TGW’s requirements. SG Transmission was one of only a few suppliers in Europe that was able to cater for the customer to solve the issue.”

SG Transmission is based in the north east of England, where it operates a state of the art manufacturing facility and in-house design office. It manufactures a wide range of electromagnetic clutches and brakes for a global customer portfolio.

of intelligent conveyor and pick-to-light technology. As British Gas engineers order their required parts and materials at each customer site via their laptops, shipping totes are part-picked and buffer stored in one of the OSR Shuttle systems, allowing rapid vehicle loading when loads are ready for distribution.

The KNAPP solution has secured a number of benefits for British Gas including improved management information the capacity to handl e growth, significantly reduced manual handling, enhanced stock integrity, superior space utilisation and a
