SUPPLEMENT ELECTRONICA 2016
ELECTRONICA 2016 – MUCH MORE THAN JUST AN EXHIBITION
For more than 50 years, electronica has provided a platform for the global electronics industry to get together in Munich for what is the World’s largest trade fair dedicated to practically every aspect of electronics technology. Like all previous shows, this year’s event will offer visitors the chance to see all the major players from key industry sectors including semiconductors, power, interconnection, embedded, test and measurement, distribution and more. Here’s a look what you can expect to find
AUTOMOTIVE This year’s automotive conference starts the day before electronica itself on November 7 at the ICM – Internationales Congress Centre München which is next door to the main entrance of the exhibition complex. The programme suggests that the conference will discuss topics that will play a key role for the industry including smart lighting, autonomous driving and connected vehicles. Steve Nadig from Daimler Trucks North
America will give a keynote address on “Autonomous Trucks: A Global Perspective”. In another keynote address titled “Automotive meets CE”, Dr Ludger Laufenberg (Kostal) will explain how autonomous driving is effecting interior electronics while Dr. Reinhard Ploss (Infineon Technologies) will examine the current role of electronics in the automotive industry in a keynote titled “Semiconductors as a key enabler for the transition of the automotive industry”. Another conference highlight is the

his time, thanks to increased exhibitor interest, electronica 2016 will have 13
halls allowing around 2800 exhibitors to present their latest products and services to what the organisers expect to be an international audience of over 70,000 visitors during the four days beginning November 8th in Munich, Germany. According to Angela Marten,
electronica’s Exhibition director, the most rapidly growing exhibition product sectors are: semiconductors, power supplies as well as PCBs and other circuit carriers and EMS, followed by embedded systems. To help visitors navigate their way
around such a broad-based show, all the exhibition halls at electronica are devoted to specific product sectors such as semiconductors, power supplies, test and measurement, E-Mech and so on. For example, the sectors for PCBs, other circuit carriers and EMS will occupy two entire halls - B4 and C4. Power supplies

will be the focus of exhibits in Halls A2 and A3 while electromechanics/system periphery will be in Halls B2 and B3.
MORE THAN JUST AN EXHIBITION electronica, though, is more than just an exhibition. There’s a programme of conferences and supporting events to provide visitors with the chance to learn more about developments that are considered key to our industry’s future. Topics this time will include: automotive, embedded solutions, LED technology, Internet of Things, cyber security, healthcare and wearables. In addition to the usual automotive and
embedded conferences, visitors can also expect to find special focus events such as the Wireless Congress and the PCB & Components Marketplace. In more than 130 presentations in five forums, visitors will be able to find out what really moves the industry and the marketplace.

concluding discussion on “The Secure Connected (Self-driving) Car”. The participants in this roundtable discussion will be Dirk Wollschläger (IBM), Lars Reger (NXP Semiconductors Germany), Dr. Thomas Wollinger (ESCRYPT) and Manfred Bauer (Flexera Software). Exhibitors from around the world are
expected to showcase their latest developments. For example, NXP will be inviting visitors to take a test drive into the future. In cooperation with Siemens, Honda and other partners, the company will present technologies that prevent accidents, reduce traffic and CO2 emissions and make drivers’ lives easier. They are based on high resolution radar
systems and compact communication devices in the vehicle that communicate with intelligent traffic lights and signs in real time. Cyber security will also be a focus topic. Renesas is sure to provide some
excitement at its stand with the electric- drive Artega sports car, which incorporates a range of applications
