Welcome to the May issue of Electronics for Engineers
W
ith the ongoing wars in Ukraine and Israel, electronics warfare has been a matter that we are paying attention to. For example, GPS spoofi ng has become a common method of confl ict with technologies advancing; this is where the GPS signal in aeroplanes get intercepted by outsiders and incorrect information is relayed back to the device. This can be adjusting the location to make the pilots think they are in a completely different location or changing the readings on the altimeter to make terrain seem further or closer than it is. This can be particularly dangerous for planes that rely solely on GPS to navigate themselves.
