TTI, Inc., has broken ground on a new extension to its European headquarters and warehouse. Geoff Breed, from TTI, explains the strategies that have made the company successful

he extension to TTI’s European headquarter follows hot on the heels
of similar expansion in the USA, Mexico and Asia and is in direct response to business growth, which is above the distribution sector in general. Geoff Breed, vice president Marketing, Europe at TTI, said: “We’ve been enjoying CAGR of around 10% over recent years and we will be ahead of the market again in 2017. One of the key pillars of our success is availability of inventory – we stock broad and deep across our franchise portfolio, so as we grow we have to add more stock. Plus of course, we have also added new areas such as power and evolved our sensor position, both of which mean we need products available to support those technologies. He continued: “We are sticking with the strategies which have made us successful. We focus on being a specialist and partner, with a carefully selected number of suppliers – all leading names in their sectors – and we develop very close relationships with them so that we can jointly service our customers. That means we also employ specialists in our focus business sectors – Defence, Aerospace & Space, Automotive & Transportation including electric vehicles, and Industrial, where the driver is Industry 4.0. We have dedicated teams to support these activities so we can offer real market specific expertise and a focused strategy to support our customers’ requirements today and as they evolve.” Two major market sector initiatives were recently announced.

produced a brochure that helps customers
through the maze of parts approvals’
Marketing, Europe, Defence, Aerospace & Space for TTI, commented: “A real challenge for companies working in these demanding sectors is how to manage the supply chain in respect to export controls. There are different interpretations of the regulations across Europe, but more and more we need to know the nature of the equipment that the components we sell will end up in. In effect, we need to know our customers’ customers. JOSCAR ensures and demonstrates that companies have the correct procedures and processes in
place.” TTI is also AS 9100 A & C approved and holds a number of other
international and company-
specific approvals required by the defence and aerospace markets. To help customers through the maze of parts approvals, TTI has just produced a brochure which lets users see easily to what level a component is approved, COTS Plus, IECQ, CECC Mil-Spec/ DSCC Drawing or ESCC/EPPL/NASA/JAXA.

THE FUTURE OF TRANSPORTATION New regulations governing emissions in cities are also having an effect. Cities such as Amsterdam aim to be emission- free by 2025. That’s not only true for cars, but also all the service vehicles – buses, delivery lorries, construction vehicles, garbage trucks etc. Electric and hybrid vehicles present their own challenges, especially as the current and voltages increase. TTI offers connectivity solutions from Amphenol, Delphi, Molex and Phoenix Contact and relay solutions from TE, Omron, Panasonic and others which address electric and hybrid vehicle applications.

Dermot Byrne Industry Marketing director, Europe, Transportation & Automotive at TTI, said: “Transportation in fact covers many different markets, and it is important to understand the individual needs for each.” Another trend in cars is the increasing use of driver assistance systems, which means there is a strong requirement for many different types of sensor. TTI created a specialist sensors team last year to support business across all its focused market sectors; for automotive it now offers products from franchises including TDK, Honeywell, Amphenol, as well as Murata, Vishay, Omron, and Panasonic.
For even heavier duty transportation designs such as trains, TTI offers products from TE – both sensors and the former Deutsch rail connector range - plus Smiths Connectors. The company is also certified to TS 16949, the International Standard for Automotive Quality Management Systems. A new 136-page digital catalogue which
details innovative parts which suit these challenging markets is available.
