More than redundant: Special encoder with three separate measuring systems

pecifically designed for intralogistics and baggage handling systems, the new LogiDrive standardized AC
vector drives from NORD DRIVESYSTEMS facilitate planning, configuration, and spare part management through a project-based reduction of variant complexity. These drives meet the highest efficiency standards – IES2 system efficiency and IE4 or Super Premium Efficiency for the motor by itself – and reach excellent efficiencies even in the partial load range and at low speeds. They therefore pay for their initial cost within a few years or even only months. Total expenses over the product lifespan are significantly reduced. The systems allow for simple daisy- chaining; short power lines can be connected from one drive to the next. The user-friendly systems consist of a helical-bevel gearbox, an IE4 permanent magnet synchronous motor, and a frequency inverter for installation near the motor.

ensor specialist FSG presents the new special magnetic encoder series MH680- III-MU-G which provides maximum reliability through multiple redundancy. The single-turn encoder is equipped with three electrically isolated Hall measuring systems to meet even the most demanding requirements in safety-related applications, i.e. in cases where redundant signals for monitoring do not suffice or additional signal outputs are needed to visualize the process. The device enclosures are manufactured from Hart-Coat aluminium and provide corrosion, shock and vibration resistance. Thanks to their wide temperature range of -30 °C to +80 °C and IP67 ingress protection they are suitable for even the most demanding environments. The new encoder features a resolution of 14 bit and covers a measuring range of 0-360°. Signal output is provided per channel via a 4-20 mA current interface. FSG provides each channel with its own membrane keypad for signal setting, therefore allowing for independent calibration of every signal output.

Put an end to pressure leaks: LDS 1000 from EGE optimizes, controls and monitors compressed air networks
t the 2017 Hanover trade show, sensor experts EGE introduce new devices from their range of highly precise programmable pressure sensors with I/O- Link functionality. The LDS 1000 series expands the portfolio with sensors for large pipe diameters up to 200 mm. Compressed air has many advantages as an energy source, but is also relatively expensive. Undetected leaks and unnecessary additional consumption may incur high costs. Sensors of the LDS 1000 series monitor consumption in compressed air supply systems via the robust differential pressure principle. They support a broad variety of options for energy-efficient monitoring and control of compressed air networks. All devices in the series clearly show the air consumption of a pressure-supplied area, machine segment or tool on a six-digit display with sensor keys at the front. Alternatively, an I/O- Link connection facilitates easy readout of measured values directly by a PLC, as well as convenient parameterization of the sensor from a PC or notebook.

Oxley Gains PMA Approval for PAR 64 Light F

ollowing the successful launch of the Oxley Par 64 LED Replacement Landing
Light, Oxley has now been granted a PMA providing FAA approval for the replacement of incandescent bulbs on aircraft. The PMA grants approval for the replacement of 4559, Q4559X, Q4559, Q5559, 4557, 4557X, 5557and 5557X bulbs.
The Oxley light offers a saving of $1,000 per aircraft per annum over sealed beam halogen units through reduced power consumption, a 100 fold increase in operational life and reduced maintenance cycles. The unit offers much greater reliability than halogen technology. It requires no aircraft modification and delivers the full optical power and beam pattern of the unit it replaces. The light doesn’t suffer degradation over time and has an MTBF of 23,000 hours, the unit is repairable with a replaceable lens and offers a peak intensity of 600,000 cd.
Oxley has many years’ experience in developing LED lighting systems for aerospace applications. The team is extending the expertise developed through substantial work in the military market into the commercial aerospace sector to deliver a full range of high performance LED aircraft lighting. Oxley is currently undergoing EASA Part 21G approval for the manufacturing of parts for aircraft use.

Low power digital temperature sensors
complete digital ultra-low power, fully calibrated, high accuracy sensor with pulse width modulated output signal. The duty cycle is proportional to the measured temperature. Accuracy is less than 0.1 ºC in the range of - 10ºC to 100ºC and accuracy of 0.4ºC from -45ºC to 130ºC (max temp) with very low noise of 0.0001ºC. Supply voltage from 2.7 V to 5.5 V. This is the most energy efficient temperature sensor in the world with an average current of < 60uA or 220nA (1 measurement / second). Evaluation boards SMTAS04USB (max. 4 sensors) and SMTAS08USB (max. 8 sensors) with mini USB port can power and read the temperature sensors. When using the SMT172TOI2C adapter the sensor can be used with an I²C bus. Applications are medical devices, vending machines, environmental controls, food processing and PCB component protection.
