LAN OPTION PROVIDES COMMUNICATION INTERFACE T

DK Corporation has introduced two LAN modules for the TDK-

Lambda HFE1600 and HFE2500 series of rack mount, hot-swap power supplies. The LAN (Local Area Network) option allows the user to program and monitor the status of the power supplies remotely, and is suitable for use in general industrial, communications, and test and measurement equipment. The LAN modules plug directly into the standard HFE racks and use the HFE/S I2

C / PMBus function. The

HFE1600-LAN is the same size (85 x 41 x 300mm) as the HFE1600 power supplies and plugs in to any open position in the rack. Likewise, the HFE2500-LAN is the same size (107 x 41 x 325mm) as the

HFE2500 power supplies. Insertion or removal of modules is possible with the AC present, without disruption to the HFE power supply operation. Communication is possible with either single or multiple supplies in a rack, or with multiple racks. A GUI (Graphical User Interface),

provided via a built-in web server, can program and read back the power supply status. To avoid unauthorised access, users can enable password protection and other security features. Supported protocols include VISA drivers, Telnet, TCP and UDP sockets, plus VXI-11 Discovery and SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol). The front panel of the HFE-LAN

features an Ethernet RJ-45 connector, a button to reset the LAN back to default settings, status LEDs, and the ability to flash the LEDs remotely to identify the LAN location. Network speed is set manually or automatically to select the fastest of 10base-T or 100Base-T networks. www.uk.tdk-lambda.com/hfe

HIGH EFFICIENCY POWER MOSFET

With the new n-channel SiHP065N60E, distributor Rutronik presents the first device in Vishay’s fourth generation of 600V E Series power MOSFETs. This new MOSFET is said to lower conduction and switching losses while increasing efficiency, so is suitable for telecommunication, industrial, and enterprise power systems. Compared to previous 600V E Series

MOSFETs, the SiHP065N60E features a low maximum on-resistance of 0.065Ω at 10V, and ultra-low gate charge down to 49nC, thus reducing on-resistance by 30%, while delivering 44% lower gate charge. The device’s FOM of 2,8Ω*nC (RDS(ON)

*Qg) is, according to

Rutronik, 25% lower than the closest competing MOSFET in the same class. For improved switching performance, the SiHP065N60E provides low effective output capacities Co(er)

and POWER SUPPLIES NOW APPROVED TO IEC 62368-1 PART 1

The CoolX600 Series of 600W convection-cooled modular power supplies from Excelsys Technologies is now approved to IEC 62368-1 – Part 1, the new safety standard for audio, video, information and communication technology equipment. The standard has been created to provide a single approval covering the increasing overlap in design and functionality of professional and domestic equipment. This new standard IEC 62368-1 was introduced in 2010 and will replace the IEC 60950-1 and IEC 60065 by 2019. After the 20th of June 2019 equipment manufacturers will no longer be able to claim compliance to the legacy standards. The 3rd edition of the IEC 62368-1 standard is currently under development by TC 108 and due to be released in the 2nd half of 2018, i.e. before the legacy standards are withdrawn. Dermot Flynn, sales director of Excelsys Technologies, said: “Our CoolX product family is approved to both

IEC 60950-1 and IEC 62368-1 so that our customers can meet the existing legislative requirements for their product while also providing a future proofed power solution for our customers for the emerging legislation.” The IEC 62368-1 approved CoolX600 convection-

cooled power supply series is a user configurable modular power supply that can deliver 600W without fan assisted cooling from a compact 8.5 x 4.5 x 1U package. Typical efficiency is greater than 93% and Excelsys says its thermal performance offers typically 25% longer lifetime than competitors. A 5 year warranty ensures quality, reliability and the lowest total cost of ownership, says Excelsys. www.excelsys.com

These values translate into reduced conduction and switching losses to save energy in power factor correction and hard-switched DC/DC converter topologies. www.rutronik24.com

Infineon Technologies has expanded its 1200 V discrete IGBT product portfolio by offering up to 75 A. The devices are co-packed with a full rated diode in a TO-247PLUS package. The 3pin and 4pin packages serve the growing demand for higher power density and high efficiency in discrete packages. Typical applications with a blocking voltage of 1200 V requiring high power density are drives, photovoltaic, and UPS. Other applications are battery charging and energy storage systems. www.infineon.com

KIT FOR EVALUATING ENERY-HARVESTING DESIGNS NOW IN STOCK

Mouser Electronics is now shipping the CYALKIT- E04 S6AE102A and S6AE103A evaluation kit (EVK) from Cypress Semiconductor. The kit allows engineers to quickly and easily develop battery-free applications with an energy-

harvesting device using Cypress’ ultra-low- power, energy-harvesting S6AE102A and S6AE103A power management ICs (PMICs). The kit consists of an S6AE102A board, an S6AE103A board, and a sensor board along with a solar module, wires, and a battery for testing different configurations. It can be used as a standalone device or in conjunction with the CY8CKIT-042-BLE Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Pioneer kit to demonstrate and develop applications that power a Bluetooth low energy device using harvested energy. The BLE Pioneer Kit supports the Cypress PSoC Creator integrated design environment (IDE), a hardware and software co-design environment powered by a

library of pre-verified and pre-characterized PSoC Components.

The S6AE102A and S6AE103A PMICs enable

ultra-low power operation with quiescent currents of only 280 nA and startup power of only 1.2 μW. This enables the boards to store slight amounts of power generation from a solar cell under dark environments of approximately 100 lux, and provide power to the systems. This kit is capable of supporting the life extension of a primary battery or becoming a battery-less solution, and can be used for evaluation of diverse power management functions used for wireless sensor networks. www.mouser.com
