NEWS Ultra Precise Timing ARM Cortex-M4 microcontrollers 5

G technology requires time sources to be syn- chronised throughout a packet-switched network ten times more accurately than 4G requirements. Mi- crochip Technology Inc. now makes it possible to achieve 5G performance with the first single-chip, highly integrated, low-power, multi-channel in- tegrated circuit (IC) coupled with the company’s widely adopted and reliable IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP) and clock recovery al-

gorithm software modules. www.microchip.com

Laser depaneling A

ltus has added the LPKF CuttingMaster 2122, which significantly improves de-

paneling efficiency.

Joe Booth Altus CEO said: “The new LPKF CuttingMaster 2122 in- creases output by up a quarter. It can cut a 0.8mm FR4 board in just 5.9 seconds. Not only does it increase yield and improve effi- ciency, but it also has a notable price-to-performance ratio.” All laser machines from the LPKF CuttingMaster 2000 series are ideally suited to cutting flexi- ble, flex-ridged and rigid PCBs. Thanks to its innovative laser cutting technology no mechani- cal or appreciable thermal stresses are introduced, this makes it work effectively on

even sensitive substrates. www.altusgroup.co.uk

oshiba Electronics Europe GmbH is mass producing 12 new motor control microcontrollers in its M4K group of devices. These are the first products in its new advanced TXZ+ family. Additionally, Toshiba has started mass production of a further 10 motor control MCUs in its M4M group. All of the new devices will be manufactured in a 40nm process, and form part of Toshiba’s TXZ4A+ series. All of the products announced are based upon an ARM Cortex- M4 core with floating-point unit (FPU) and memory protection unit (MPU), running at speeds up to 160MHz. The devices integrate an advance-programmable motor driver (A-PMD), 32-bit ad- vanced encoder (A-ENC), an advanced vector engine plus (A- VE+) and a maximum of three channels of high-speed and high-resolution 12-bit analogue/digital converters. These devices are ideally suited for field-oriented control (FOC) of up to three AC motors, brushless DC (BLDC) motors and multiple types of in- verter control. www.toshiba.semicon-storage.com

T Mini InspectorP611

ICK has launched an ultra-compact and ultra- powerful all-in-one 2D vi- sion sensor, the InspectorP611, which can be set up rapidly to conduct highly-reliable inline machine vision inspections even in the tightest of ma- chine spaces, or when mounted on robot arms. With the SICK InspectorP611 2D vision sensor and pre-in- stalled Quality Inspection Sen- sorApp, users rapidly configure inline inspection, part localisa- tion and measurement tasks to run automatically on the device.

S

Small enough to be mounted right where it is needed inside a machine, the InspectorP611 is ideal for com- ponent verification of printed circuit boards, surface mount or electronics components. Tiny and lightweight, it can also be mounted on robot arms to provide real-time quality checks and positioning for tasks such as the applica-

tion of solder. www.sick.co.uk

Hylec launches new e-commerce website

Hylec-APL has launched a new e- commerce website. With simple or- dering and completely secure online payment, orders are dispatched swiftly for arrival within two to three business days.

Easy to navigate, Hylectrade.com is organised by product groups, so it is quick and simple to find what’s re- quired. Available connector ranges include the whole Debox series, in- cluding the new Debox SM40, the first 4-pole junction box that fits into a standard 40mm LED ceiling down- lighter aperture yet still has generous cable space for ease of installation. With the rise in staycations prompting many people to add

water features in their gardens, this summer is seeing unprece- dented demand for outside electrical installations. The very pop- ular Hylec Weatherproof IP68 connector range, plus IP68 gel-filled splitter and junction connectors for power distribution are ideal for this and all professional electrical installations involving power for underwater and weather-exposed projects, from fea- tures in private gardens to large public lighting, water and sig- nage projects.

There is a comprehensive choice of plastic and metal door en- closures with IP ratings ranging from IP66 to IP68, including the DEDSS stainless steel range utilised across many applications

thanks to its robust, rust-proof construction. www.hylec-apl.com

Sensor module ecosystem supports GMSL2

FRAMOS offers camera data transfer over a single coax cable using the GMSL2 protocol on the Jetson AGX Xavier platform. Camera developers utilising the FRAMOS Sensor Module Ecosystem can integrate the highly flexible GMSL2 technology with image sen- sors producing up to 8MP resolution at 30fps over cable length of 15m. benefit from the entire FRAMOS Sensor Mod- ule Ecosystem and its large selection of supported sensors as they can quickly cre- ate proof-of-concept designs for applica- tions not just for the automotive market. When a sensor module is installed in a tight space such as Banking ATMs, Quick Service Restaurant menu boards or POS Self Check-

outs, extending the distance between the module from the camera processor is often required. Many other applications, like farm- ing equipment, large drones and logistics robots, can also benefit from this robust au- tomotive grade bidirectional GMSL2 high

speed transfer technology. www.framos.com
