NEWS Allow me to introduce myself... I
am very proud to be the new editor of Electronics Today, as of this February issue 2023. All editors understand the sensation of learning as they work, however I’ll admit to being very new to the electronics industry.
Previously, I’ve edited magazines in the building and engineering industries, which did of course venture into the electronics side of things but I’m looking forward to gaining a deeper understanding of the electrical world around us!
This month I was lucky enough to attend the Southern Manufacturing and Electronics Show as my fi rst event in the industry, and what a debut! I met some fantastic people with fascinating products and admirable outlooks on their business and life. The interviews taken at the show can be found on our YouTube channel now so please feel free to watch, share and leave a comment.
This issue we look at Contract Manufacturing, with articles from ALIO, Cetec, Incap and Robotas; Enclosures, with comments from experts at OKW and Metcase; Component Design, featuring Classic Components, OKOS and Microcare; Electronic Sensors, with contributions from Solid State Supplies and Swindon Silicon Systems; all alongside a feature on Interconnection and the usual industry news.

New EDAC Clipzin™ Connectors for Raspberry Pi® Pico
Farnell has introduced the new innovative Clipzin™ Connector range as the exclusive distributor. Manufactured by EDAC and designed by OpenLX SP Ltd, the Clipzin™ range initially targets the Raspberry Pi® Pico and PicoW, and Arduino® Connect modules, with more options
to follow.
Described as the edge connector for the IoT generation, Clipzin™ eases manufacturing and facilitates modularisation, encouraging sustainability by promoting easy inservice upgrades and reusability. It allows customers to produce one design that can be customised for fl exibility, and to offer variants, reducing design time and the need to stock many versions. Clipzin™ enables rapid connection and disconnection of sensor, communication and compute modules, such as Raspberry Pi’s new Pico. Designed for prototyping to production, a retention clip ensures that modules will not shake free after assembly or inservice, but allows PCBs to be easily swapped later if required.
