Importantly, all this technology must still be monitored and controlled by people. OKW anticipated this requirement with the launch of SMART-TERMINAL, one of the firm’s new generation of enclosures that combine extruded aluminium profiles with high-performance plastics to create designer solutions for high-end electronics. These enclosures were designed to be equally at home in a luxury apartment or a cutting-edge technical facility.
SMART-TERMINAL comprises an extruded AIMgSi main case with ASA+PC-FR end covers that sit snugly in soft-touch TPV seals, creating IP 54 ingress protection. These sophisticated housings can be handheld, mounted on walls, attached to a VESA bracket or fitted with a 12° canting kit for desktop use. Inside, the
aluminium extrusion offers users the choice of screw channels and PCB guides – making it easy to slide circuit boards in and out. For industrial environments with large temperature fluctuations, enclosures can be fitted with cable glands (M12/M16/M20) with integrated pressure compensation. This avoids the need for an additional pressure compensation element on the enclosure. And while touchscreens are seemingly ubiquitous in automation, there is still a requirement for tuning knobs. Award-winning new CONTROL-KNOBS feature click-to-select functionality for menu-driven electronics. Their soft-touch design makes them pleasant to operate. Optional illumination uses energy-
saving SMD LED technology. Virtually all enclosures and some potentiometer knobs will need customisation. The smart solution is to partner with a specialist enclosures manufacturer capable of providing all customisation services in-house. This ensures quality and reduces delivery time and administration.
