Integrated antenna GNSS Receiver eases embedded designs

-blox’s new ultra-compact SAM-M8Q GNSS module speeds time to market for system developers of GNSS applications who have limited experience in RF and antenna design. Equipped with an integrated antenna, SAM-M8Q is housed in a tiny 15.5 x 15.5 x 6.3 mm package/ It can easily be embedded in small devices that require location information, such as asset tracking and telematics systems, and generic automotive after-market applications. The combination of an integrated wide band antenna along with the module’s SAW filter and low noise amplifier (LNA) architecture ensures that the SAM M8Q receiver delivers robust performance in the presence of high frequency signals from other electronic equipment, such as cellular modems, which can cause interference. By using the latest u blox M8 multi GNSS receiver technology, the module is able to offer simultaneous reception of GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo satellite signals.
The modules will be in full production in mid February 2017.

TEKO Launches Standard USB Enclosures F

These cable junction boxes come in
ollowing popular demand from design engineers, TEKO has launched its new TEK-USB standard USB enclosure.
TEK-USB is perfect for a
wide range of OEM applications including USB dongles, pen drives and wireless transmitters. The enclosures have an attractive snap-together design with an integrated soft touch protection ring in the middle. The PCB and USB connector are captured inside the enclosure. A separate cap is supplied for the protruding USB connector. There is also an LED light pipe on the cover – so users can monitor activity – and a recessed area on the bottom for labels and markings. Prices for TEK-USB start at £5. TEK-USB is available in one size (53 x 25 x 10 mm) and is moulded in White/Light Grey plastic as standard. Custom colours can be supplied – minimum order quantity 500 pcs. The top and base are moulded in Novodur P2H-AT (a standard impact strength, high gloss plastic with an
anti-static additive) and the intermediate ring is moulded in LARIPUR 8020 (a polyester-based TPU also used in sports soles and screen elements).

Manufacturers are demanding higher rated PCB terminal blocks for use in applications such as AD/DC inverters, motor control and battery storage, which due to their nature require terminal blocks capable of handling high voltages and high currents.

Some pitch sizes were chosen to address specific market needs and demands, whilst others were needed to meet the capacity and clearance requirements of the PCB pin and cables commonly used. Euroclamp’s MV high power PCB terminals from Switchtec are available as standard in green, but as with all Euroclamp’s terminal blocks they can also be purchased in red, yellow, blue, orange and black.
