Enhanced-sensitivity amplifier for industrial metal detectors
E
GE has developed a new compact, rugged MDVH amplifier with enhanced sensitivity for its System 3000
industrial metal detector. The completely redesigned amplifier is characterized by higher adjustable sensitivity levels, reduced susceptibility to interference, and a more robust housing with IP67 ingress protection. Featuring automatic self-calibration, the unit works reliably even if the detector coil comes near metal fittings. Users can adjust the sensitivity of the detector coil as required via a rotary potentiometer on the housing front. The amplifier has a 260 x 160 x 90 mm wide aluminum housing. It is designed for an extended temperature range of -25 °C to +70 °C. EGE's System 3000 is used in conveyor lines for noncontact detection of metal parts that could damage downstream machines or degrade the quality of bulk solids.

EMC filters for converter systems – High Frequency Composite Materials meet the requirements for SiC and GaN applications
E
MC filters reduce interference currents and voltage spikes in power converter systems. The material plays a decisive part in this. SMP has developed "All Mode"
EMC filters with high frequency stability. The High Frequency Composite Materials (HFCM) developed and manufactured by SMP are effective for frequencies up to the gigaHertz range and satisfy all of the requirements to which modern SiC and GaN applications are subject. The All Mode design damps both differential mode and common mode noise. By combining HFCM and All Mode technology it is possible to reduce the number of filter components needed in the system by about 50 percent.
Among other advantages, this also means that common mode chokes or filters can be dispensed with. Compared to standard technologies which use materials such as ferrite, electrical steel sheets and nanocrystalline ribbon, SMP’s EMC filters are noiseless, up to 40 percent lighter, and reduce interference levels by as much as 40 dB[!V].

Microchip Simplifies Hardware-Based IoT Security with the Industry’s First Pre-Provisioned Solutions for Deployments of Any Size
W
ith a minimum orderable quantity of 10 units, Microchip’s Trust Platform provides hardware-based secure key
storage for low-, mid- and high-volume deployments As the number and types of connected devices proliferates,
market fragmentation and security vulnerabilities in the Internet of Things (IoT) have created significant challenges for developers. Hardware-based security is the only way to protect secret keys from physical attacks and remote extraction, but extensive security expertise, development time and costs are required to configure and provision each device. With companies producing anywhere from hundreds to millions of connected devices per year across the globe, scalability of architecture can be a major barrier to deployments.
