OMC unveils next-generation LED backlight colours
Mouser Electronics Partners with Renesas
innovation, today announced a new global distribution partnership with Renesas Electronics Corporation, a leading supplier of advanced semiconductor solutions. Launching the relationship at Embedded World, Mouser and Renesas will focus availability on the latest software, development kits, and microcontrollers (MCUs) that comprise the groundbreaking Renesas Synergy™ Platform. The Synergy Platform is designed to remove obstacles for design engineers and speed time to market for Internet of Things (IoT), industrial, and real-time operating system-based applications. The Synergy Platform provides developers with immediate access to a complete embedded platform, starting with an application programming interface (API) to leverage a full software framework that is built around the best-in-class Express Logic X-Ware™.

ouser Electronics, Inc., the New Product Introduction (NPI) leader that empowers
MC, the pioneer in optoelectronics, announces it has developed a new technology that enables a whole rainbow of new LED backlight colours to be produced, including magentas and blue-greens. Previously the only way to achieve non-standard LED colours was to use RGB colour mixing, which involves three times as many chips, complex wiring and requires drive circuitry to control the relative channel levels. OMC’s new series of profiled backlights with Active Reflector Technology™ produces a striking range of vivid, next-generation LED backlight colours, and gives designers far greater creative choice and flexibility.
O OMC’s proprietary Active
Reflector Technology™ utilises photon wavelength upconversion to produce a wide range of rich colours and pastel shades. OMC’s new ART series backlights are available in crimson red, rose pink, a strong red-orange, bright orange, amber yellow, pastel yellow, high brightness yellow/green, vivid green, deep green, electric green-blue, a classic rich LED blue and a strong, bright shade of magenta.

www.omc-uk.com New IATA Regulations for the
Shipping of Lithium Batteries The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has changed its IATA DGR (Dangerous Goods Regulations) concerning the shipping of lithium batteries. Hereafter the FBDi summarizes the most important changes:
• Labelling requirement – The number of shipment items not subject to labelling requirements according to Pi 967 and PI 970 (max. 2 batteries / 4 cells) is limited to 2 per shipment. This affects lithium-ion and lithium-metal batteries integrated into a device. They require a label even where not more than 2 batteries or 4 cells per shipment are contained per shipment item (not subject to
labelling), but more than 2 shipment items per shipment are shipped. • New hazard label for lithium batteries The new 9A hazard label now expressly refers to the package contents with lithium batteries (instead of ‘miscellaneous substances and articles’ as previously with the Class 9 label). However, this is only valid for packaging lithium batteries, and its use is mandatory from 1 January 2019. For labelling the outer envelopes (e.g. containers), the requirement only to use the Class 9 label for lithium batteries remains applicable. FBDi

he new Provertha M12 X-Code 10 Gbit Ethernet Crimp connector is now available at Aerco, the distributor and stockist of electrical and electronic components servicing hi-rel markets.
T Designed to
deliver fail-safe connection and secure data transmission of up to 10Gbits for Cat6a Ethernet in railway and other mass-transit applications,
the
M12-X Code Crimp Cable Connector achieves 360 EMI/RFI shielding in the smallest form factor on the market, ideal for restricted assembly conditions. In addition to extreme vibration resistance,
the
housing design is waterproof to IP-67 when screw locked. The Provertha M-12 X-Code connector series has unique design with a completely shielded full metal housing, reducing crosstalk and signal coupling. Turned and gold-plated crimp contacts maintain secure contact termination of Ethernet signal wires even under extremely harsh high vibration conditions, delivering robust and reliable high-speed data transmission rates to TIA-568 and ISO/IEC- 11801 Cat6A specifications.
