TECHNOLOGY IN ACTION ADVERTORIAL

RAFI's mono button RAMO C has the special touch

Modular industrial gear units in additional sizes

A

t the 2017 Hannover Messe exhibition, NORD DRIVESYSTEMS will present two new gearboxes for nominal torques of 15 and 20 kNm. With these latest additions to the line-up, the series now comprises 11 gearbox sizes that deliver output torques up to 250 kNm. The NORD industrial gear series offers a particularly great variety of configuration options for application-specific drive solutions. The modular NORD product range includes dual-gear setups, auxiliary drives,

brakes, torque

arms, backstops, swing bases, and – as the latest special feature – extruder flanges. In addition, there are a variety of sealing options and solutions for monitoring and temperature management.

a robust, single housing. Due to the wear-free capacitive input technology and a fully sealed housing, RAMO buttons are ideally suited for use in harsh environments. The single-case housing design and four-pole plug & play connection with M8 or M12 thread sizes ensure a fast, safe installation. RAMO buttons are sized for standard 22.3 and 30.3 mm mounting holes. They keep a very low profile and are available with square and round collars. The integrated LED provides a uniform illumination of the entire actuator surface. The light is red when not actuated and turns green when actuated. By applying a signal to pin 2, the button can also serve to indicate other status information by flashing red. An interruption of the power supply triggers white flashing to alert the user. Users have a choice of momentary actuation, switching actuation or pulse function (300 ms) for their buttons. RAMO C buttons are supplied with PNP circuit switching as standard. NPN versions are available on request.

eeting the need for PCB terminal blocks for use in applications requiring higher current and voltage capabilities,

distributor Switchtec has

introduced Euroclamp’s MV series of high power terminal blocks.

Manufacturers are demanding higher rated PCB terminal blocks for use in applications such as AD/DC inverters, motor control and battery storage, which due to their nature require terminal blocks capable of handling high voltages and high currents. Euroclamp has designed the new range of high power terminal blocks specifically to fulfil these requirements. The expansive range of MV terminals embraces many different types and formats to exactly meet the needs of the specific requirements; they are ‘no compromise’ components. The range includes models with current carrying capabilities from 16A up to 125A.

Specifically they are the 16A rated MVE27, the MVSP25 and MVSP27 at 24A, the MV46, the MV47 and MV49 at 32A, MVL47 at 41A, MV10VA at 49A, MV10 at 70A, and the ‘monster’ MVP35 at 125A. Voltage ratings up to 1000V are available. Not only are the terminals versatile in their range of power ratings, but also in terms of pitch size, embracing options of 5.08mm, 7.5mm, 7.62mm, 6.35mm, 9.52mm, 10.16mm, 12.7mm and 15mm. Some pitch sizes were chosen to address specific market needs and demands, whilst others were needed to meet the capacity and clearance

requirements of the PCB pin and cables commonly used. Euroclamp’s MV high power PCB terminals from Switchtec are available as standard in green, but as with all Euroclamp’s terminal blocks they can also be purchased in red, yellow, blue, orange and black.

mphenol Industrial Operations (AIO) is thrilled to have sponsored The National WWII Museum during their endeavor to bring patrol torpedo boat PT-305 back to the water. The restoration began ten years ago, and AIO has been involved since 2014. It supplied a number of its 97 Series connectors to enable the PT-305 team to faithfully and accurately restore the boat’s instrumentation and electrical systems to their former glory. Built in New Orleans by Higgins Industries, the patrol-torpedo (PT) boat PT-305 was a critical asset for the US Navy during World War II, serving in European waters from 1944 to the end of the war. Heavily armed, equipped with advanced technology, uniquely manoeuvrable, often ingeniously modified, and reliant on cooperation and teamwork, PT boats were a perfect naval expression of the American Spirit at war. With small crews within collaborative 12-ship squadrons, they were also the home to a colourful collection of Navy sailors and a dramatic backdrop for moving personal stories of war, including the trials of cramped quarters, the terrifying thrill of combat, and humorous tales of shore-leave escapades.
