PRODUCTS INTERCONNECTION NEW ULTRA-MINIATURE HIGH-DENSITY CONNECTOR RANGE A

smaller version ultra-miniature connector has been launched by

Fischer Connectors. The company’s MiniMax 06, as an extension of its miniature high-density product range, can include up to 12 power and signal contacts in a footprint of only 10mm. This corresponds to a density factor of 0.83 – an interesting technological feature for a connector

with standard 0.5mm contacts. The new connector also includes a new configuration with two signal and two high-power 1.3mm contacts for applications needing 10Amps or more power, doubling the standard 5Amps current rating of the existing MiniMax product line. These devices are easy to use and offer good performance even in harsh environments. Also available as a pre-cabled solution, they are ideally suited for handheld or body-worn applications when space is limited, in such fields as defence & security, instrumentation, testing equipment, civil or military unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), among many others. Tested for high-speed protocols such as HDMI and data transfer up to

10Gb/s, the series also addresses the growing market need for higher data transmission rates. “This product proves that

miniaturisation in connectivity can be successfully implemented in rugged high-density connectivity solutions that combine power and signal”, explains Wim Vanheertum, MiniMax Product Manager at Fischer Connectors. “We’ve extended our Fischer MiniMax Series to address the need for increased performance of miniature rugged devices. Handling more mixed signal and power connections in a combination of multiple contacts also means increasing flexibility in meeting specific design challenges in miniaturisation.” www.fischerconnectors.com

S-CODED CONNECTORS

Binder’s M12 s-coded power connector has been enhanced with the introduction of new three pole (2+PE) versions with a pre- engaging contact and featuring both field attachable cable and panel mount versions with wires. Previously only available in 4-pole (3+PE), these new versions are ideal for mains voltage (250V) applications. Male and female cable connectors with

gold plated contacts can accommodate cables between eight and 10mm diameter with screw clamp termination of wires up to 1.5mm2 (AWG 16). The panel mount connectors are supplied

USB “GENDER CHANGE” CONNECTORS FOR LIGHTING AND AUDIO

Cliff Electronics has added two new connectors to its existing range of XLR-Format Feedthrough Data Connectors. The new chassis mounted “gender change” sockets are available in USB2 A-to-B and B-to-A versions and allow for integration of USB2 networking and data feeds into professional equipment for broadcast, lighting, audio and industrial applications. These new sockets are designed to fit into the industry standard 24mm diameter XLR connector panel

cutout simplifying panel design and manufacture and improving design aesthetics. Both the USB A-to-B and USB B-to-A gender feedthrough sockets are finished in nickel plate and a socket sealing cover is available to prevent the ingress of dust. John Hall, General Manager of Cliff Electronics says: “Our new gender changing feedthrough connectors

offer system designers added flexibility when providing system connectivity, ensuring compatibility with all combinations of connecting leads. Our cost effective range of Feedthrough connectors continues to evolve and to be designed-in to an ever growing range of applications.” The company’s growing range of feed-through connectors are all packaged in the widely used 24mm

diameter XLR connector format and depending on the model are available in black plastic or with a rugged die cast aluminium fascia, finished in nickel or black, to enhance the high quality, high performance and image of this new product range. Other models in the range provide Digital and Optical Feed-Through connectivity in formats including high speed USB Type – C, USB3 to USB3 in all gender changing configurations - A-A, A-B and B-A. Also available are all popular data and Ethernet connectors including USB 2.0 and 3.0, LC and SC fibre (Duplex & Simplex), UTP and FTP RJ45s in both Cat6 and Cat5e (shielded and unshielded), Toslink, RCA Phono and HDMI and blanking plates. www.cliffuk.co.uk

pre-terminated with 200mm long 1.5mm2 (AWG 16) UL rated wires. The rear M16 x 1.5mm thread allows for mounting into a threaded hole or clamping with an additional jam nut. The connectors are rated to 12A and 630VAC three-phase and have an integrated pre-engaging earth contact. www.binder-connector.co.uk

Luso Electronics has announced two new UL-approved Magnetic Integrated Connector (MIC) modules from Elec & Eltek. One option uses heat-resistant liquid crystal polymer (LCP) in place of standard plastics. The other RJ45 MIC upgrade integrates a Bridge Diode Array to eliminate polarity issues. By choosing to upgrade MIC modules using LCP, offers connectors that will survive higher temperatures and potentially remove the need for heat shielding. This upgrade also makes it possible to use paste- in-hole (PIH) processing and IR reflow soldering to mount components to a PCB. www.lusoelectronics.com

NEW PROTECTIVE EARTH MODULE SUITABLE FOR STANDARD CABLE AND LARGER CROSS-SECTIONS

Harting has announced an additional Han- Modular PE module for the pluggable connection of large PE (Protective Earth) cross sections of between 10 and 35mm2. The hinged frame of this series already features two integrated PE connections for the 0.5-10mm² cross-section range. The new connector means that cross- sections of between 10 and 35mm² can now also be made using a pluggable PE module. This effectively means that special cables with reduced PE are no longer necessary, and so standard cables can be employed instead. The PE module is simply mounted in the

hinged frame; due to its construction it creates a secure, electrically conductive connection from

the PE contact to the hinged frame and the outer housing. The protective earth connection is pre- leading and complies with standard IEC 61984. The module is available in two different

termination technologies, crimp and screw termination. The crimp version is ideal for applications in which the power contacts are currently crimped, and any crimping tools used with other connectors can still be used since the crimping zone is identical across the range. The version with axial screw termination has the advantage that no special tool is required, as termination can be performed using a 4mm hexagonal torque screwdriver. www.harting.co.uk
