n environments where high reliability is paramount, such as in defence and aerospace, mass transit, and medical applications it is vital that every link in the supply chain be rigorously monitored right through from the hardware within each system component along with every service provider throughout the supply chain to help build successful end- application systems and equipment. That is why it is vital to select the right industry partners to ensure full system performance with ongoing support. Industry specialists such as Smiths Connectors understand these obligations well when it comes to the demands and constraints of such applications. Having several decades of experience in both defence and industrial sectors the company has successfully attuned its services and product offerings to fit these requirements. With distribution channels that span the globe, Smiths Connectors has come to establish itself as a worldwide leading provider of high performance interconnect solutions by building key partnerships with leading industry experts to deliver the highest level of service and expertise. Reinforcing this, the company has recently signed a distribution agreement with TTI, a world leading specialist
distributor of electronic components. Following this new agreement TTI can
now offer customers across Europe, Smiths Connectors’ world-renowned high- reliability and performance interconnection product range. The agreement builds on a successful partnership between Smiths Connectors and Mateleco, the French specialist connector distributor acquired by TTI and completes the business relationship already existing with TTI in the USA. The partnership will extend Smiths Connectors’ sales channels by providing TTI the availability of connectors featuring Hypertac hyperboloid, Sabritec and IDI contact technologies, which deliver exceptional performance in demanding environments where reliability and safety are critical. Giuseppe Lancella who has recently taken up the responsibility of Vice President of Global Sales Channel for Smiths Connectors said: “I’m very excited about our partnership with TTI. HISTORY IN THE MAKING Giuseppe Lancella has worked for Smiths for twenty-one years, rising to the position of MD for Hypertac Italy and Germany in 2002. From 2008 until Feb 2013 when Hypertac technology brand came under the Smiths Connectors brand banner, he was appointed President, Smiths Connectors EMEA. Moving to the Global Matrix organisation Giuseppe focused his activity from the general management to sales in EMEA firstly and now to the Global Sales Channels. Lancella advises that Smiths Connectors has three main sales channels: direct sales, manufacturing reps and distributors, with a different mix in the three served regions Americas, EMEA and Asia. Lancella says his key goal for the company here is to optimise the distribution network and to increase the overall channel performance. Lancella highlights that Smiths Connectors' distribution strategy moving forward will also look for master agreements to distribute specific products globally. This will enable Smiths Connectors to address all its customers for a product group and will highlight the importance of high reliability not just in every product but in each working relationship across the industry, if not the globe.
