Wieland Electric presents samos© PRO MOTION, a compact safety controller with integrated motion functionality
Wieland Electric is literally bringing movement to its safety portfolio: With samos© PRO MOTION, the technology company presents a new all- in-one safety controller with integrated motion functionality. A function blocks ensure that up to 60 percent fewer modules are required and therefore more space is available in the control cabinet than with comparable providers. Among other things, the compact, programmable controller enables safe standstill monitoring, even with vertical and slow-moving axes, and also scores points with an anti-vibration toolbox for macro and micro vibrations
Whether mechanical engineering or intralogistics - wherever reliable standstill, speed,
direction and position monitoring is required, the compact safety controller from Wieland Electric with up to 70 kHz motion inputs on the base module is suitable.

XP Power has just released two new series of baseplate cooled DC-DC brick converters with power ratings of 150W and 200W. The new RDF series modules incorporate an ultra- wide input voltage (nominally 72VDC) that covers 14-160VDC. These new modules are intended for applications that rely on multiple power sources, or a single source with wide voltage variation, such as renewable energy, battery systems, industrial technology, and railway applications.
Housed in a compact half-brick package measuring just 61.0 x 57.9 x 12.7mm (2.40” x 2.28” x 0.50”) the modules are ideally suited for use in modern space-constrained thermal management and, therefore, elevated levels of reliability. power designs to suit each geography. However, the 12:1 ultra-wide input range eliminates this challenge allowing designs to be deployed globally without revision to the power stages. The design process for railway usage is further eased as all RDF modules fully meet the requirements of the EN50155 transportation standard. 24V and 48V outputs, with the RDF150 also including a 5V option. A remote sense is included for applications where the load is some distance from the power module and a voltage trim feature is also included. Indeed at -20%/+15%, the trim is wider than many modules currently available on the market. just 15mA when in standby / inhibit mode. Alongside their EN50155 approval, the devices are also approved to EN50121-3-2 and EN61000-4-x for EMC as well as UL62368-1 for ITE use. Intended for use in rugged environments, the RDF modules are able to operate at temperatures from -40ºC to +100ºC and overvoltage, overload and short circuit protection are included as standard.
The RDF150 and RDF200 series are available from Avnet Abacus, Digi-Key, Distrelec,
Farnell, Mouser, RS Components, approved regional distributors, or direct from XP Power with a 3-year warranty.
