DRIVES, CONTROLS & MOTORS PRODUCTS MINIATURE GEARED STEPPERS WITH MATCHED DRIVE

Miniature geared stepper motors and a companion single-axis stepper drive from Micro Motors s.r.l. provide a simple yet versatile solution for basic position- and/or speed-based motion control. Available from McLennan,

the four SM-series geared steppers combine 7.5˚ step motors with integral low-noise spur gearboxes in plastic and metal-housings, each offered in a wide choice of reduction ratios for maximum application flexibility. Gear unit determined output torque and speed for the largest model ranges from 700mNm at 105rpm to 1500mNm at 2rpm. The dedicated MM003AT/21-22 stepper drive

features six DIP Switch selectable modes that include step and direction input for position and speed control and simulated ‘brush’ motor settings that utilise voltage or current input for proportional or fixed speed control. The 4-way DIP Switch is used to manually select the six control modes – including step and

direction as well as rotation direction, speed, and acceleration/deceleration for the ‘brush motor’ simulated modes. The DIP Switch is also used to select the maximum current output – a choice of 160mA or 330mA to suit the geared stepper chosen for the application. The PCB mounted drive features screw terminal-strip connections for

power and control signal inputs. At just 33 x 33 x

14mm deep and weighing 10g, the compact drive is installed with a single hole mounting. The compact SM-series geared steppers offer

a broad choice for miniature motion control tasks. The largest model has an overall length of 52mm for the highest reduction ratio, with a gear unit diameter of 40mm.

ELECTROMECHANICAL DRIVE SYSTEMS There is the choice of vertical and horizontal

ACE Stoßdämpfer has introduced Industrial POWERISE, a new class of electromechanical drive systems. The actuators are available with

spindle pitches from 2-25mm and take easy care of lifting, lowering, and positioning at the push of a button, with forces between 250N and 4,000N. Stroke ranges between 50mm and 350mm make them a powerful and versatile motion control solution for a wide variety of applications.

SLOTLESS THIN-SECTION

MOTOR RANGE LAUNCHED Alva Industries, a manufacturer of frameless motors with FiberPrinting technology, has launched SlimTorq, a new range of slotless thin-section motors ideal for high-precision applications on land, sea and air. The motors are available in sizes from 39mm to 130mm outer diameter. FiberPrinting enables ironless and slotless motor windings with up to 60% copper fill factor, setting a new standard in precision, torque density and adaptability, the company explains. The compact motors have high precision and power,

are brushless for reliability, are low noise, and have non-skewed windings for maximised torque output. Applications include high precision gimbals, medical devices & surgical robotics, defense & satcom, marine propulsion, metrology, and semiconductor industries.

operation, as well the use of Industrial POWERISE as a positioning system. The new product can also be used in

combination with industrial gas springs from ACE’s NEWTONLINE, be it the push types or the pull types, the company explains. The maintenance-free actuators are supplied as ready-to-install and complete packages.

HOLLOW SHAFT STEPPER MOTORS FOR COMPLEX MOTION APPLICATIONS

MOONS’ Industries continues to develop its Super Large Hollow Shaft Stepper Motors range, meeting demands from those working on complex motion control applications. The motors are designed to provide high levels of performance, flexibility and value

across a wide range of applications, including: robotics, semi-conductor manufacturing, industrial automation and security systems. These offer a combination of high torque output and large bore diameters, making them

ideal for motion control applications requiring both power and versatility. According to the company, they have the potential to revolutionise the way machine builders’ and system integrators approach their projects. The large bore diameters of the motors opens up many design possibilities, allowing for

the integration of linear transmission shafts, cables, air flow, liquids, or even beams directly through the centre of the motor. When paired with a harmonic gearbox, the motors can deliver at least twice the torque for the same frame size and aperture, compared to solid shaft motors, the company explains. MOONS’ experienced engineers are available to work closely with customers to develop

tailored motion control packages that maximise performance and reliability, while minimising the total cost of ownership.
