ATR CHASSIS MEETS EMBEDDED SYSTEM DEMANDS
A rugged ATR chassis compliant with VITA 48.4 for liquid flow-through (LFT) cooling has been introduced by Elma Electronic. In response to the increasing power demands of high-performance embedded systems, the backplane in the chassis is designed for data rates up to 10Gbps and can handle 300 Watts per slot. Features include configurable front I/O
connectors on a removable panel and a filtered power input connector. It is 1ATR tall with a rugged, bolted construction; and the individual card coolant flow rates are adjustable with selectable orifices. Furthermore, the backplane features
eight 6U slots on a 1.2” pitch, including two VITA 62-compliant power supply slots, four 6U slots (three Payload slots with VITA 67.3c apertures in J3 & J6, and one Switch slot with VITA 67.3d aperture in J6b), as well as two 6U Payload slots populated with all J1-J6 connectors. ‘Clockable’ guide pins are included at each slot to allow for easier keying (angle rotation), without having to deal with the removal of the backplane from chassis.

‘GROUND BREAKING’ COMPRESSOR
Lontra has signed an agreement with Universal Wolf to produce enclosures for the Lontra Blade Compressor. Said to be the first clean-sheet compressor design in over 80 years, this can be used across many sectors such as aerospace, automotive, food and beverage, pharmaceutical manufacture and water treatment. Universal Wolf, part of Tharsus
Group, worked with Lontra to develop the enclosure, creating a product that is robust, efficient, sound attenuating and can be used both inside and outdoors without modification. Production of the enclosures at Universal Wolf’s factory in Blyth started in September. The new LP2 compressor is expected
To help telecom service providers tackle the problems of unauthorised access to their fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) street cabinets, Nexans has developed INFRABIRD, an intelligent keyless access and IoT supervision system. This, the company explains, can be deployed in just a few minutes to turn passive cabinets into smart, cloud-connected, assets. Based on low power sensors that connect FTTH cabinets
to IoT networks such as LoRa and Sigfox, this also comprises a smart lock such as the battery-free ILOQ S50 to provide keyless access to authorised maintenance personnel, as well as mobile and web applications. Once installed, the solution allows telecom network operators to monitor the status of street cabinets and the history of any actions carried out. INFRABIRD is intended for retrofitting in outdoor
cabinets where the optical fibres are distributed between the network owner and the commercial operator. The system is said to be fast and easy to install, especially as it does not require a special power supply or fibre optic cables. Battery-free keyless operation also reduces maintenance as there is no need to replace the batteries.

to be of interest to many industries as energy efficiency, noise and reliability become ever more challenging. It is said by the company to be up to 34% more efficient than its competitors, offering energy savings as well as improvements in reliability. Steve Lindsey, CEO at Lontra,
commented: “Universal Wolf matched our ambition and free-thinking design and engineering, our collaborative innovation approach is helping drive high-value manufacturing and productivity in the UK... Our shared experiences of working in traditional industries and applying new and innovative solutions are a model for how British manufacturing can reinvent itself for the digital age.”

www.lontra.co.uk ONLINE CONFIGURATOR FOR MOBILCASE ENCLOSURE RANGE
mobilCASE is a smart, modern, range of extruded aluminium enclosures for handheld electronic instruments and machine/robot controllers. These can be mounted horizontally or vertically for display or control panels. To make it easy to specify these and generate CAD and PDF files of their specific housing, ROLEC has launched an online configurator. The case extrusion is offered as a single profile (IP65) for slide-in PCB
assemblies or as a two-part profile (IP54) which allows keyboards and displays to pass through the top profile if required. The configurator enables customers to select which case extrusion they need in three standard widths (to suit 80, 100 or 130mm wide PCBs) and in custom lengths from 50 to 500mm. An end cover kit must then be selected. These are offered in different combinations of flat and deep end covers, and also in combination with a tilt stand or wall pivot mounts. It is then possible to review the custom-sized mobilCASE in 3D and
zoom or rotate it. Views include model shading and model position; and there are virtual reality modes (anaglyph, Dreamoc HD3, Dreamoc XL2, full screen with cut, animation, isometric, edges, shaded with edges). Other 3D functions include zoom all, zoom to object, cut, exploded view and screenshot. There is also a wide selection of moveable and zoomable 2D drawing views including isometric, three projection views (EU, US), etc.
