SUPPLEMENT ENCLOSURES & ENCLOSURE FURNITURE HELPING TO REBUILD
THE ENCLOSURES INDUSTRY
Like many companies, FDB Panel Fittings has kept working and supplying from stock with one eye to the future. As front-line suppliers of hardware for everything from control systems to medical devices, the company is aware that online/phone ordering and delivery to the customer door are even more important than ever. Its Rocfast service has been in
strong demand for the way it can rapidly configure hardware components including locks of all types. This is especially important when supply of component parts is difficult – so FDB can speed specification, assembly and delivery. Typically the Rocfast system could
provide a careful investigation of the specification and supply parameters so that, for example, a suitable assembly of ¼ turn camlock, budget lock or stainless steel lock might be identified, coupled with perhaps a piano hinge or internal weld-on hinges, packed together with a pre-cut length of clip on sealing profile – with packs to be delivered in batch quantities. The Rocfast program focuses
primarily on lock assembly including all major industry brands – and is designed to take the hard work out of an order process that often requires specification of individual lock components and time consuming self-assembly prior to installation. The FDB expert team can rapidly identify the optimum specification of components then order, assemble and deliver to site, to workshop or to metal former/subcontractor. Gary Miles, MD, said: “Under the
present very difficult circumstances FDB Panel Fittings is delighted that it is able to offer our Rocfast ‘home delivery’ service – a complete specification and logistics package that saves time, money and mistakes by guiding customers through the process of specification, component matching, ordering, assembly, packaging and logistics – direct to site – worldwide.”

NEW ROTARY LATCH ACTUATOR FEATURES KEYLESS ELECTRONIC LOCKING
Southco has expanded its line of rotary latch actuators with a new version that combines keyless electronic locking with a modern design. The AC- 11-EM Rotary Latch Actuator with electronic locking functionality eliminates the need for mechanical key access when connected to a remote access controller, such as a key fob, or to an existing control
system such as a button located within a vehicle’s interior. With its flush mount oval shape and a recessed handle design, the AC- 11-EM eases operation when opening panels and doors with a gloved hand, while reducing snag and catch points. The latch also has a heavy duty design and is corrosion resistant, enabling its use in outdoor applications such as off-
highway entry doors and specialty vehicle storage panels. Available with a variety of key locking options, the AC-11 provides direct, single or multipoint actuation of a connected latch. “The AC-11-EM Rotary Latch Actuator with electronic locking provides a convenient upgrade to electronic
access control,” said global product manager, Cindy Bart. “The rounded edge provides a sleek look that complements applications where dependable remote actuation of a connected rotary latch is critical.”

into which tapped strips or individual M4 captive nuts can be positioned to provide secure mounting points for the housed components. The conductive finish vented or plain top and base covers slide into dedicated slots – conductive gaskets in these slots prevent movement and ensure conductivity between all components of the assembly. Front and rear aluminium panels also feature a conductive finish. According to the company, the Veroshield EMC
Three different designs of rack case are available from Verotec, in a number of different sizes and with several options on offer. The heavy-duty RackCase PRO is EMC screened as
standard, making it particularly suitable for housing heavy equipment in electrically noisy environments. It is a 3U high unit, available in standard depths of 240, 350 and 460mm, with custom depths available to special order. The side extrusions feature full length slots on the external face for mounting telescopic slides, and internally they have 12 channels
rack case is particularly useful in reducing cost in larger 19” rack-mounted systems where only some elements of the overall equipment require elevated levels of EMC capability. These are available as standard in three sizes: 1U high and 265mm deep, 2U and 3U high and 365mm deep. Typical attenuation figures are in excess of 110 dB up to 10 MHz, falling linearly to 40 dB at 1 GHz. Standard general-purpose rack cases are available
in heights of 1U to 6U and depths of 250, 350 and 450mm. With these, it is possible to specify either vented or unvented top and base covers, a 3mm clear anodised or 2mm black painted steel front panel, and optional grey or black front handles.

Suitable for railway and other special vehicle applications, EMKA’s stainless steel IP69K compression latch features visual status indication. This allows for distanced observation of the lock status – whether the lock is open or closed – by virtue of a cover which is linked to the lock. If the lock is open then the cover is held open. The lock’s lid is spring-mounted and snaps
shut automatically only when closed. If the lock is turned by 25˚ or more, the lid remains open at an angle of 90˚. A clearly visible opening indicator then appears on the inside of the lid: a red area with the EMKA logo. On trains, for example, railway personnel can see from a distance as soon as a door or flap is not completely closed. Resistant to shaking and vibration, the lock has
automatic flap closure with a seal on the lock to protect from damage to the door.

Due to its compact design and high weather
resistance the latch can be used in many outdoor areas, such as wind power plants, tunnel construction, traffic facilities and rail vehicles.
