Wieland’s wienet Managed Switches provide full network control T

he new wienet Managed Switches from Wieland Electric allow full control and diagnosis of industrial Ethernet networks. By means of standard ring

topology, the switches allow redundant topologies and thereby boost network availability. These switches offer protection against unauthorised access/data traffic, greater resilience and prioritisation of data with real-time requirements. wienet Managed Switches support processes including ERPS, RSTP, STP and

hen Hartpury College and University Centre recently undertook a study to investigate canine gait analysis

and force exerted on a lead in a collar and harness, HBM – a market leader in the field of test and measurement - was on hand to supply the necessary electronic strain gauges and software. Considering the vast range of roles that dogs fulfil, it is

important for dog owners to utilise the array of equipment available to help with these roles, such as collars and harnesses, both from a practical point of view and as part of a legal requirement. The restraints, as required by law, provide the dog with

the ability to move freely without pain whilst giving the handler control over it. However, it does not account for any unseen or unaccounted for force that the animal might be facing.

MRP for Profinet networks (certified up to Conformance Class B) and are adapted for Ethernet IPs. Different port variants from 10/100 Base-T(X) RJ45 ports to variable SFP ports and even Gigabit Combo ports allow for optimal adaptation to the application environment. The full PoE+ performance of 30 W can be tapped with a 51 VDC power supply up to a maximum of 8 ports. The switches meet the highest requirements with their operating temperature range of -20°C to 75°C as well as their excellent MV properties.

Rotary connector for rotating components E

Eisele offers new practical connector from BASICLINE push-in fitting

isele has developed a ball bearing rotary connector. This new addition to series 14 of the Eisele BASICLINE can rotate freely around its own axis. The

new rotary connector offers a solution for conveying compressed air from a rigid component to a rotating component. The new rotary connector, which is designed for an operating pressure

range of -0,9 to 16 bar, is suitable for all applications that are compatible with nickel-plated brass. The seals are made of NBR and FKM. The rotary connector is available in a straight and an angled version for tube diameters of eight, ten and twelve millimetres. The screw-in end is equipped with G1/4 threads.

This new push-in connector from series 14 of the BASICLINE is the first fully rotating connector in Eisele’s product

spectrum. The rotary movement is enabled by a hybrid stainless steel ball bearing with ceramic balls, which is approved for rotational speeds of up to 800 rpm. Stainless steel versions that are suitable for other operating media will follow.

ABB’s UK Engineering Centre doubles in size to meet rising demand

Engineering Centre to tackle demand for servicing variable speed drives (VSDs), developing specialist test rigs (STRs) and customer training. Floorspace at the site in

A

Coalville, Leicestershire, is increased from 830 m2 to 1789 m2. The site houses the latest ABB-certified workshop – one of 17 throughout the world - offering repairs and upgrades to low voltage AC and DC drives and medium voltage AC drives. The facility upgrades third party medium voltage drives, as well as those of ABB. “Many operators across multiple

industries are finding that their variable speed drives are no longer supported by the original vendor. ABB can integrate new variable speed drives and control platforms to these systems, ensuring operators can continue to benefit from their substantial investment in equipment,” says Stuart Melling, Business Unit Manager, ABB Drives UK. The new facility houses ABB’s STR business, for which a new class of test rig for electric vehicles, incorporating

battery simulators and electric chargers, is being developed. The location boasts the largest VSD training school in the UK, offering customers access to certified courses

covering low-, medium- and high-power drives. Coalville sees the introduction of the ABB AbilityTM Remote Support Centre. This enables global customers to

maximise uptime and optimise processes by having round-the-clock access to drive and automation experts who use cloud-based technologies for preventive and predictive maintenance. “Being in the heart of Leicestershire with good access to the M1, M42 and M6 motorways, the Coalville facility is a

great location for everything from spares distribution to easy access for customer training,” says Paul T. Williams, General Manager of the facility. “The site is home to some 40 electrical, mechanical, control system and software development engineers, with the team expected to grow in the coming months.”

The recent merger of CamdenBoss

he recent merger of CamdenBoss and i4innovation’s ‘Smartboxx’ brand caused a long-term customer to

pose a question………… ‘Is there another enclosure manufacturer able to offer

such a comprehensive range of products and services?’ When you consider the newly re-branded company’s

ability to offer everything from PCB potting boxes to ‘drive thru’ kiosks the answer has to be no (?). Customers now have a 10 strong design engineering

team to call on who are conversant in rapid prototyping, fabricated and mass-produced moulded enclosures. Our engineers are specialists in offering enclosure solutions with the ability to assess the project, market and budgetary demands of customers in diverse markets and applications. CamdenBoss have

traditionally been strong in the standard ‘off the shelf’ enclosure market. Recent changes in operational capabilities and a strong customer focus have re-invigorated the company’s ‘customised’ product offering. Re- purposing modern CNC machinery and additional investment in digital printing capacity has seen a reduction in lead times and increased production flexibility.
