Dip moulding machine
drive not moving the mass proved that additional compressed air damping was activated. This could be quickly deactivated, and our dampers immediately performed ideally in the end positions." The SC300EUM-4 type miniature shock absorbers were selected for this application, and perfectly matched the requirements. Küppers explained that, in this application,
special emphasis was placed on soft damping and a long stroke. This is because the BIS dip moulding machine only reaches its end positions 30 times per hour. Consequently, the designers weren’t primarily concerned with high cycle rates for rapid product output, but rather with precise manufacturing and protecting the machine. The impact speed of 0.4 m/s also makes it clear why a long stroke, i.e., the slow retraction of the piston rod into the oil-filled cylinder of the damper, was important.
The SC190 to SC925 product family from ACE is based on the motto ‘deal for soft damping’, with the SC in the name standing for ‘soft contact’. The miniature shock absorbers, machined from solid steel, can be designed with either a linear or a progressive deceleration curve. Their soft damping characteristics are achieved through their especially long strokes, which result in very low support forces. Specifically, the family offers strokes from 16 to 40 mm and an energy capacity from 25 to 110 Nm/cycle. The maintenance-free, ready-to-install
hydraulic machine elements are equipped with an integrated positive stop. Thanks to the designed overlapping effective weight ranges, these dampers cover an effective load range of below 1kg to more than 2,000kg. This makes them a valuable productivity, comfort and safety component in mechanical engineering – especially in the key areas of handling and automation.
The miniature shock absorbers have been installed in millions of industrial constructions worldwide, where they reliably and effectively optimise a wide variety of machine types by stopping masses quickly and non-destructively. They reduce the load on handling equipment, rotary and pivoting drives, linear cylinders, and many other industrial applications, thanks in part to their versatility. As an example, ACE offers the MC150
to MC600 product family as a particularly durable variant suitable for up to 25 million strokes, or the hermetically sealed PMCN 150
Miniature shock absorbers met the application demands
to PMCN 600 series. There is even a series specifically optimised for PET blow moulding machines, the PET20 to PET27.
