Dawson Shanahan celebrates the 50- year career of ‘outstanding’ Quality
Manager, Shelagh Gill Dawson Shanahan, the specialist precision engineering firm, celebrates the career of one of its longest-standing senior leaders, Quality Manager Shelagh Gill, who is due to retire in February 2022, after nearly half a century in engineering. Shelagh, who joined the company in 1973 has
witnessed phenomenal changes and advances in technology over her time at the plant, based in Welshpool, Wales. From her early days using handheld mechanical measuring equipment to the latest digitalisation today, the ways of working have transformed over the decades. Not only has the technology progressed but there’s also been significant changes in the
standards over the years. Shelagh says: “From the BS5750 in the 80s, ISO 9001 in the 90s to the automotive standards of TS16949 and latterly,IATF 16949 of today, we have a dedicated work force committed to ensuring that the work we produce is to a very high standard.”

Hitaltech celebrates 25 years of board-to-board, wire-to-board and
enclosure innovation Hitaltech, the connecting technologies and enclosures specialist, is celebrating its silver jubilee with a return to Southern Manufacturing & Electronics on 8-10 February 2022.
Hitaltech wanted to mark its silver jubilee in style. So at SME 2022, the company will be showcasing products from across its entire range of components and enclosures, including…
“Best of both world” connectors Joining the well-established Conex-it range of flexible interconnect products will be a vast range of rigid connectors. “For PCBs manufactured in panels, flexibility is often essential,” says Matt Hughes, Hitaltech sales manager. “However, if PCBs are stacked, or at right angles, a rigid system may be the natural choice. We’re enabling manufacturers to enjoy the best of both worlds.”
DIN rail enclosure evolution The new Modulbox is the first with capacity for 15 modules, giving manufacturers the potential to offer greater capability in heating, lighting control and energy metering. Meanwhile the new 2-tier Modulbox offers new levels of compact design flexibility.
Adding value Hitaltech’s Value Added Services (VAS) – a ‘pick and mix’ collection of customisation options that range from kitting and machining to custom printing and mould tool modification - are always a popular topic of conversation at industry events. MD Andy Fitzer expects the same to be true at SME. “Every industry faces a range of challenges right now,” he says. “The time, convenience and cost savings presented by our wide range of VAS options are making life easier for our manufacturing clients.”
Hitaltech will be at Stand J115 of SME. Hitaltech
