exceptional energy efficiency, reliability, environmental performance, low noise, reduced running and servicing costs, and the high quality indoor climate they provide for building occupants. Built in 1723, the building has a colourful and unique position in English history as it’s the very place where the Duke of Wellington’s defeat of Napoleon was announced in 1815.

Carrier's Modernisation Team carried out the work on a full turnkey basis, managing all logistics associated with dismantling and removing the old machines and replacing them with the new Carrier chillers. John Lam, who headed the Carrier Modernisation team on the project, says: “The customer was also keen to minimise capital costs and maximise return on investment in a package that could be demonstrated to reduce the building's carbon footprint. All in all, it was a pretty challenging brief; however, due to the AquaForce Vision’s excellent energy performance and proven underlying design and engineering, we were able to meet the requirements and deliver for the client.”

Two Carrier AquaForce Vision chillers – with a combined cooling capacity of 1460kW – were installed within the limited 6.8m foot-print available. The work included installation of integrated hydronic modules linked to the chiller's variable speed drives, chiller sequencing control and factory-fitted remote monitoring.

Coolair was commissioned by Wolverhampton- based Midwest Electrical, via the main contractor Wilmslow Building in Cheshire, to install the latest Mitsubishi system, which provides energy saving and carbon-reducing cooling and heating over both the ground and lower-ground floors.

The latest variant refrigerant flow (VRF) system includes heat recovery ventilation so that all areas of the restaurant receive simultaneous heating and cooling as required, with fresh incoming air warmed by the waste heat from the cold-room equipment in the kitchen.

Midwest Electrical chose Coolair Equipment as its contractor for the swift and smooth turnaround as an accredited Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Quality Partner with an excellent track record. Coolair Equipment director, Neil Gibbard, says: “We were delighted that our close association with a world-leading manufacturer, and our proven experience and expertise, enabled us to design and build the comfort cooling and heating system for one of Birmingham’s most exciting new restaurants.” Coolair Equipment has also signed an annual maintenance agreement through its new National Aftersales Division that includes a seven-year warranty on all the equipment that it installed. Coolair Equipment, which also has offices in Manchester and Kent, was founded in 1980 and specialises in providing tailored cooling and heating services to the retail, residential, commercial, education and hotel sectors. Kingspan helps deliver firstclass learning environment in its hometown

A 21st century school has been constructed in Glossop, a rural market town in the High Peak, to provide a new, singlesite secondary school and sixth form

Kingspan Kooltherm Pipe Insulation from local manufacturers, Kingspan Industrial Insulation, was specified to help ensure it is both comfortable and low cost to run.

As the original school was costly to repair and maintain, the decision was made to demolish and construct a new site that would combine three Glossop and Hadfield schools. The new site was delivered by main contractors, Henry Brothers, with the capacity for 1,000, 11-16-year-olds and 200 sixth formers, and the potential for further expansion. Overseen by M&E Contractors, William Bailey, 7000 lm of Kingspan Kooltherm Pipe Insulation was installed by delivery partners, Gill Insulation.

The pipe insulation was used in concealed areas such as in the ceiling voids, on droppers and within low-level boxings, in addition to the plant room and boiler room. With industry leading thermal conductivities as low as 0.025 W/mK, Kingspan Kooltherm Pipe Insulation provided a slim-line solution for reducing heat transmission from the pipework. This gave the installers more room to work when fitting the product in tight areas and allowed the

clean, high quality aesthetic of the internal spaces to be maintained.

Kingspan Kooltherm Pipe Insulation is Class 0 as defined by Building Regulations, has a BRE Green Guide A/A+ rating, and is manufactured under a BS EN ISO 14001: 2015 scheme. Kingspan Kooltherm Pipe Insulation is the first pipe insulation product to attain BDA Agrément certification under the scheme and it has also been awarded a best- in-class Eurofins Indoor Air Comfort Gold certificate, recognising it as outstanding material according to the VOC Indoor Air Quality emissions standards. With Kingspan Industrial Insulation’s free Pipeline Technical Advisory Service, which can be contacted on 0808 168 7363, clear advice and guidance can be accessed at every stage in a project. They also have Premier and Premier Plus Services which support purchases of Kingspan Kooltherm Pipe Insulation and the Kooltherm Complete Pipe Insulation System (incorporating insulated pipe support inserts and fire sleeves). stainless steel anti-tamper clips ensures a sturdy luminaire that is a cost-effective alternative to traditional fluorescent luminaires previously used for many industrial applications including car parks. The new car park at the International Centre has been designed with ‘smart glass’ technology which allows the outside of the building to change colour. As well as its colour-changing outside panels, the car park has also been designed with no structural load-bearing columns to make the most of available space inside. The parking facilities also benefits from the huge advantages of LED energy efficient luminaries, providing cost effective, durable and safe lighting to meet the demands of any commercial environment.
