BUILDING CONTROLS INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION
T
he Building Controls Industry Association is the only trade association in the UK solely focused on the fast-growing Building Controls & Automation Industry. It’s an industry worth over £840m per year to the UK economy and our 175 member companies – manufacturers, systems integrators, distributors and consultants – empower buildings through building management, energy management and integrated automation solutions. Building Control Systems are designed to enhance the efficiency and lifetime
performance of a building through data-driven monitoring to reduce energy consumption and waste and therefore energy costs and inform planned and preventative maintenance for optimum facilities management. Building Management Systems have been proven to improve occupant comfort,
increasing productivity in work and educational settings and reducing healing time in healthcare settings. As the representative body for the sector, the Building Controls Industry Association has four strategic aims. We strive to:
• Raise awareness and understanding of the value of controls systems, • Position the sector as a career of choice, helping to create knowledge-led skilled jobs to attract and retain talent,
• Place building controls at the heart of policy discussions to ensure controls are more clearly mandated in UK building regulations policy; and
• Facilitate knowledge share and best practice within our membership network.
Empowering buildings for a better tomorrow
The Association is committed to driving up standards and delivers a range of CIBSE accredited training courses, firmly recognised as the industry standard. We have also developed a Level 4 BEMS Controls Engineer Apprenticeship that now has almost 200 learners on programme.
