BUILDING SERVICES FORUM O The Net Zero journey continues
n June 6 BSEE will be welcoming building services professionals to the next Building Services Forum where we hope to take you on an all-important journey showcasing carbon-friendly solutions which will
be crucial to the decarbonisation drive. Our series of one-day technical briefings began on October 5th last year with the spotlight on low carbon heating solutions, and now we are back but with a new focus – Building Retrofit. The UK government’s promised agenda to reach Net
Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 will not be a simple task, and industry experts know that we will have to embrace all products and technologies with carbon cutting credentials if we are to be successful. However, it’s so important to bear in mind that around 80% of buildings that exist today will still be in use in 2050, which means we have to be smart about making our built environment fit for the future.
At the Building Services Forum, along with industry experts, trade bodies and manufacturers, we will be taking a look at the key role of Building Retrofit in enhancing the energy efficiency and sustainability of buildings. We will showcase all those solutions which can be critical to decarbonisation effort, and hear from key industry speakers on the challenges ahead and how to overcome them.
The subjects will be varied, but you can be sure to come away with a new understanding of Net Zero guidance and regulations, whole life carbon (both operational and embodied), low carbon heating, hybrid ventilation systems, sustainable water-saving solutions, as well as all the policy stumbling blocks the industry is currently faced with. Throughout, our speakers will convey the important role of Retrofit in Buildings as we strive for sustainability,
reduced environmental impact, compliance and cost- effectiveness.
The day’s events will kick off with an introduction by BCIA president Stacey Lucas who will address the critical part building services must play in the decarbonisation challenge, the hurdles that need to be overcome, the crucial role of controls. She will head an impressive line-up of speakers which
are revealed below, but you can also flick through the next few pages of this supplement to learn a bit more about the companies taking part.
The day’s events will conclude with a panel discussion hosted by accomplished freelance journalist and PR consultant Ewen Rose. See more on this on pg 23. We would like to extend our thanks to all our sponsors, collaborators and exhibitors for making the event possible. They include Mitsubishi Electric (headline sponsor), Altecnic, BCIA, BESA, Breathing Buildings, Cistermiser, Diffusion, Kingspan, MMC, and Polypipe Building Services, School Building, Energy and Sustainability Management, ACR News and HVR.
